I have decided that I will get a b1 turbo..... It will be in the future... ... hopefully sooner than later...



I decided this on all the attributes the turbo had when I installed it and I drove in the truck



my question is how many people are already set to buy one of these as well... I also would like to know why you chose this turbo... I know why I chose it..... it rocks, but really wondering why everyone else has chosen it.

There were several factors involved in my decision to purchase a B-1...



I wanted a turbo that would stay together and be able to push 45+ PSI boost without failure. After speaking with Kurt on the specs of this turbo it sounded like it would do this. I also was not sold on the HX40, too many failures. Now I know that there are guys out there who have had great luck with the 40 but I wasn't sold on it for me. I waited to send $$ to Kurt until I got some information from guys who had been exposed to the B-1. ALL of them had the same response "it is a great turbo"!



Probably the main reason for purchase was the fact that it looks like this turbo is the best thing available now. Turbos are like PC's what is best today will be obsolete tomorrow, but sitting on the sidelines all the time waiting for something bigger and better isn't always the best thing to do!



Mine is due to arrive Thursday and Kurt has been great working with me and my bum hand (thanks Kurt). I am confident that I will be pleased with my purchase. Also if things go as planned I will be doing a dyno-day on Feb 16th and will report back.

Because I blew up the KwikSpool HX40 I had. Kurt immediatly said ok, lets see about getting you a B1. Don't have it yet... ... ..... waiting kinda sucks, no actually it doesn't just kinda suck, it does suck. But then again maybe I was just spoiled by the KwikSpool... ... .
 
I was looking for 400+ hp w/o needing to worry about EGTs. I use my truck for anything and everything and my leadfooted wife doesn't watch the road much less an EGT guage. . hope she never reads this;)



seriously. . what good is gobs of power w/o a 100% duty cycle? you cant use it when you really need it.



He shipped my injectors and PE comp today. . the clutch goes out tomorrow... the turbo and down pipe in a few weeks. i'll order the guages and gtech pro tomorrow... from geno's I think. Oo. Oo. Oo. I just can't wait to get home friday to put it all on!!! for now i'm in San Ramon, Ca driving a rental car:{ but it is a firebird convertible:p
 
A. My truck gets too dang hot with the puny little hx35

B. When my wife drives the truck, she thinks its cool to watch the boost gauge go to 45 psi and i know sooner or later the little hx35 is going to cry uncle. Anyone who knows me would realize i never push it this hard :p only her. LOL

C. I want my truck to tow a trailer as well as it does with the hx35. I have conversed with a couple of guys with the B1, they said it is all :D :D for towing.

D. Hx40 track record scares me 1x B1 turbo cheaper than 2x hx40

E. HVAC recomended it

F. Brandon recomended it

G. It is a very nice (and heavy duty) looking unit (see D. )

H. I dont like Lag (too much smoke) My favorite cop will give me a smoking ticket:rolleyes: Guys with B1 say minimal lag

I. I want to have the newest coolest thing out there (for a while anyway) Come on tax returns
 
Brandon--if you're getting one then I'm going to have to get two:D---the reports are glowing and once you let me borrow yours for testing--I don't want you to have to go thru any hardships without me testing it first, work out any bugs that got in there from shipping:-laf--yes I'm a good friend to do this, but that's what good friends are for--right... ... chris
 
Why I chose the B1 Turbo

I bought the B 1 because I needed to drop my egt's bad. I talked to Pierce about his HyBrid HX 35, and he said all he could drop me was about 150*. If I needed more to go with the HX 40. Along came SlowKwurt with the KwikSpool. It helped a bunch, at least 200+*, but not enough to satisfy me. Then he came up with the B1, and its been great! All I use my Ram for is towing, and now it is fun to drive, hardly ever have to shift out of 6th. Working with Kwurt has been fun, and he really looks up to me. ;) :D !! I'm 5'6", and he's 6'5". :) He also installed my 4" BD ex. brake and Fastcoolers, and did a real nice, neat install.

Yogi how much have your EGTs gone down?



I saw 200* beeter than the HX35= Kwikspool. how much drop has ther been since the kwikspool? I know SlowShortFatKurt :-laf:-laf never worries about EGTs but I'm interested in your results.

Brandon, I am also planning on the B-1. I was hopeing to order it in Jan, but ended up putting a new heat pump in the house. I have a DDUFM now and plan on also installing ddII or III injectors. The reason I need the B1 is drag racing, dyno, and pulling my fifth wheel with controlled EGT's.



Jetpilot, I hope you get it in before the dyno run, I will have a million questions for you. Ken

Mark, I can't give you an exact #. One time I'm towing a 30', next time a 36 or 40', so I would check it by running empty at 65mph, tach reading about 1900rpm, WOT while watching the pyro. With my HX35 w/Banks large wastgated 14cm2 hsing. it would hit 1300*just before it hit 80mph, with the KwiKSpool, it would hit 1300* at 100mph, now with the B1, it hits 1300* at 110+mph. , thats with the Comp. on #5(all runs) Towing, if I can keep the tach at 2200 or more, in#5, it well stay at about 1250*, but when rpm's go down, egt's go up. Now in #4, it will not go over 1200* down to 1900rpm. , but on a steep grade, I need to shift to 5th. I'm hoping with ddII's, I will have enough more hp to leave in 6th and #4, and keep right on trking. I may get myself right back in trouble again with the II's, but I'm going to find out. Let me know what any of you think out there.
