I am looking at purchasing an aftermarket intercooler for my 3gen what company out there has the best one . You can't seem to find much info on them and each company says there's is the best . You guys that have changed yours chime in and let us know what you have found.

man your quarter mile times are just getting faster and faster, flat out awesome for a stock cp3.

when I get one, it will be from Joe Hellman, he started a intercooler/welding business on the side

well, i was leaning towards the BD intercooler but tell me more about this guy you know!

Please... . let us know how much cooler your egts got with your intercoolers. I've asked guys on threads about this & haven't got a reply yet. I am doing research & just want to find out which intercooler is best for cooling egts. Do they really cool down egts by 200* or is it all talk?

The spearco/turbonetics unit with it's bar and plate design is supposed to be superior to the BD and Banks unit's tube and fin. I too would like to hear how effective they are as that's the next thing I'm looking at getting.

I am just trying to figure out what I can do to squeez a little more out of her, hence the intercooler, I would like to be running in the 11's without the spray

Plate and fin is a great design for a stand alone Unit,Like oil or water stationary Pumps, when it come to a moving unit the turbulator design is superior. to support that thought NOT one Truck or Auto factory CAC is plate and fin,all our turbulator design.

I jumped on the idea and a Spearco should be here any day now. They're the only guys out there right now buildling on for our VP trucks. I think that they're design is awesome and the price tag won't absolutely kill the funds either.

What do you guys think about the Spearco setup??

Pretty nice setup. It has the same physical dimensions as the stock unit (L/W), but is 3" thick vs. 2" for the stock unit. I actually believe the trucks spools better with it than the stock one. Saw an honest 100*F towing drop in EGT on the data acquisition. WOT it took longer to get the EGT's up as well. Didn't really test for that though.

I just put one of Joe Hellmans intercoolers in a 3rg gen and cruising egt dropped about 135 degree towing appeared to drop it even more but it was cooler that night than it had been.

The testing we did had ambient temps within 5*F and underhood intake air temps within 4*F. Had we had it on a truck with a little less mods, and could have been harder on the throttle, we may have seen bigger gains. This truck only maintained ~18psi to run 65mph towing. At 35psi, it very well may have shown a bigger temp delta.
