Twin turbo dynoed HP...

Looking for more info

I'm ready for twin turbos, Who sells the best setup and can I use my B-1 as one of the turbos in the setup?

Thanks, Chas.

I can't tell you what's best for your truck but I saw where you are located. You doing this yourself or working with a local shop? Just curious, none of my business, but I have had my experiences with S. FL diesel shops.

I did all the work myself, (except the clutch work in the auto transmission) Joe D. gave me good info on the cam install, I don't know of any diesel performance shop in the area.

Doug,

How are the efficiency and performance ratings using the B series turbo?

Thanks, Chas.

As much as I love the B-series, the first person I'd call for a twins setup is JR Adkins. His HX40 and HT4C combo moves a LOT of air. He may be using an HT60 now.

Not yet. His phone number is posted in some member's sigs. Try Got Smoke. Or just PM J. R.

If you search on Adkins, you will find his Phone#. There's also his email at -- email address removed --

Personally I think the PDR twins are top notch..... But Devildog mentioned using his B-1 as part of the setup hence the reason Olee Poole was mentioned.

Twins are expensive and appear to be alot of work... Are twins really worth the money and effort? Do they really help with the bottom end? Do you really feel the seat of the pants Improvement? How much horse power do you gain with twins over a single turbo?

Thank, Chas.

There are a lot of really good singles out there now. A few years back this was not the case and to be able to make/use 400+ HP twins were necessary. Now you can run a single that you can tow with and have 500-600 HP.

Twins are still going to keep the egt's down better, and they are going to be able to provide more topend (when using a reasonable single). But, bottom end is normally less than a good single. Also with the injectors you are currently running going to twins won't gain too much HP..... But to give you an idea, install some mach 6's and use your turbo and you will see around 500 HP. Install a good set of twins and hp will be 600-630.

I'd second the notion of J. R. 's twins being the top set-up. I'm pretty sure he can fab up a set with your B-1, but I'd say sell it and go with his new Schwitzer turbo for the manifold charger for faster spoolup. As far as the bottom charger go with an HT-60 or an HT4C to move alot of air. I'd also recommend using J. R. 's external wastegate for added boost control. His number is below in my sig.

Best twinset?

Any more it comes down to boost control.

Wastgates on BOTH turbo's should be used to control boost.

While using a wastgate on the top turbo and a Pop Off to limit peak boost works, it is very inefficient. It's main benefit is cost and ease of installation.

While wastgating the bottom turbo adds to the pricetag, you end up with a twinset that is more tuneable, and you can run a smaller housing on the bottom turbo making it more streetable.

Before you do anything I would recommend talking to JR Adkins too.

I spent almost 4 hrs at his shop yesterday and all I can is WOW and he has my buisness for SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a set of Mega Mentals I have been waiting to install, with the Nitrous Kit that is sitting in my garage. If I install twin turbos they should act like the nitrous, and hopefully work well with the Mega Mentals, No?

How would you compare super Mentals and Mega Mentals To the Mach 6 injectors?

Thanks, Chas.

Jetpilot, what single turbo are you talking about that can make 500-600hp and still tow? My truck gets hot just empty.
