Guys I desperate need your help and experience! My current problem is:

I have to make my Dodge temporary not driveable and make her act as it there was a major problem, but at the same time the mods I have to make to achieve this must be easy to repair later.

And now the most sad part of the story, you may want to know why I need it-I’m a simple man from a poor family, who had to work really hard to achieve what I have now,one of my most valuable and beloved toys is my Goat. Right now my wife made me to know she newer has fellt love toward me and was exploiting my love and kindness to her. She enjoys the looks she gain when she drives MY goat, especially I feel bad when the sexual activities without me taking part in them have to take place in MY RAM. There are steps to be taken before our divorce is complete, and during this time I’d like to make my RAM “unuseable”

Thanks for your knowledge.

Werner

I have a toggle switch hidden in the cab to the little ground wire on the botttom of the starter, works great. Hope everything works out.

Cut or disconnect the boost signal pressure line from the intake manifold to the injection pump. Will operate at very low power. This is where Piers installes his "valet switched valve".

Open the drain valve on the fuel filter. Will suck in air and quit. Uninformed repair man might look quite a while before they find this. Will pump fuel to ground via drain valve while cranking if you leave it open. Put plastic bottle to collect drainage.

Disconnect fuel shutoff solenoid circuit at relay on firewall or at solenoid.

If you look in the Power Distribution Center (fuse box) under the hood there is a relay in there that's labeled fuel pump. Pull that relay and put it in your pocket, truck won't start.

Man,i feel for you, hold you head high, and dont forget everything happens for a reason, get this POS woman out of your life ASAP,so when the right woman comes along she wont be scared away by her. If you have children,be strong for them. you'll get thru this. I would drive the Ram to a secure self storage and pay to keep it there for now,it may be worth it she may vandalize it if you diable it,she will know you did it on purpose. Document everything she does, that is not normal, time, date what where, you may need it for court, and you wont remember it all when your on the stand, your character on the stand, and your record taking will go a long way. I have a good friend that went thu a similar divorce, his advice was no matter how mad she gets you, never ,ever threaten her,or hit her,not even a shove, nothing. Good luck,I wish you well.

Steve, I didn't go to look but remember the '97s have a mechanical lift pump. What is the fuse for

The driver's side battery + lead has several wires held to the clamp via stud. One is a blue fusible link. If disconnected, the engine will crank but not start because this wire powers the fuel shutdown solenoid.

It's not a fuse, I know the 97 is a mechanical pump. I was going by the main '98 service manual which is for the 12v, not the 24v supplement (which is a seperate manual). In my manual it's shown on page 8W-30-6, there is a fuel pump relay (I didn't say fuse) shown there. Maybe it's for gasser's only but they don't label it that way on the page.

After I hear stories like this it makes me really want to stay single, indefinitely.

Hope it all works out well for you.

Sorry, Steve, I didn't mean to tweak you  I should remember that some of my overvalved cousins know the ancient history about the time when there were only two valves per cylinder :D

There is some ambiguity in the 1997 Dodge manual. It does show the relay is for gassers only, but my Power Distribution Center has a relay and the label says for fuel system

I don't know what the relay does because it does not show up in the diesel circuit diagram. I didn't take it out to see if the truck would still start.

:( That sucks man. Things you can do to make the truck look broken:

Loosen one or two of the injector lines where they attach to the pump, depending on how many you loosen, the truck will run very poorly or not at all. It will leak fuel all over the pump too.

Cut power to the fuel shut off solenoid hold up coil, it will act like it is going to start, but when the starter stops, it will die.

Take off the boot after the turbo and stuff a rag in there to cut off the air going into the engine, that could be very hard to find. Just make sure the rag won't go anywhere, the engine will try to pull it through.

Put the transfer case in neutral and jam the linkage so it can't be put back into gear, the truck won't go anywhere.

Take off the valve covers and tighten the valves on some of the cylinders so they never shut all the way, and then they will never get compression to burn the fuel, it will miss, smoke and run terrible. Just be careful to not go too far or they might hit the piston. Just take all the play out, then a few turns more, then start it to see what happens.

I hope this helps.

What a drag!!!! Go get yourself a 1 inch "c" clamp and clamp the fuel supply line ( hose ) shut. They're small and hard to see when put in the right place .....

Take the truck to a friends house where it "broke down", and get this mean, ungrateful woman a bicycle at a yard sale.

Be strong and you will get through this.

I am sorry you are on hard times.

Mike

Don't know about the dodges, but on a Super Duty Ford if you pull the fuse for the brake lights, the relay that keeps you from shifting out of park without pushing the brake pedal won't energize and you can't shift out of park.

Later,

Joe

DOC

Thats a start doc,

110v? How bout 480 3 phase

Sorry to hear about your luck. Be strong. What goes around comes around, she'll get hers in the end. Do things right, dont do something stupid that will help her and hurt you in the long run

Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is the truck in both of your names? If not tell her to @#$%off,change the locks and ignition keys. DO NOT,I REPEAT,DO NOT lay a hand on her. If you can get a restraining order on her(in some states you can not CHEAT on your spouse),and keep her away from you and YOUR property.

Fighting is an art, there are no rules.

Since you are in a fight, and have your back against the wall, get the best damned atterney you can afford. Do it before she does.

And rake her *** across the coals.

I know what you are going through,No Bill C. here but,

I feel your pain.
