This really ticked me off! Homeland Security will be the end of this country!

Attorney General John Ashcroft hailed the slimmed-down Bill of Rights as "a positive step. "

Go up to the average citizen and ask them what's in the Bill of Rights," Ashcroft said. "Chances are, they'll have only a vague notion. They just know it's a set of rules put in place to protect their individual freedoms from government intrusion, and they assume that's a good thing.

The Fourth Amendment, which long protected citizens' homes against unreasonable search and seizure, was among the eliminated amendments. Also stricken was the Ninth Amendment, which stated that the enumeration of certain Constitutional rights does not result in the abrogation of rights not mentioned

Call me naive but...

I have a hard time believing that Bush and Co are actively working to restrict our rights. Yes, Homeland legislation will unfortunately do damage to our Constitutional rights, but I believe that's more of that "unintended consequences" baloney. Clinton's admin was certainly no friend of the Constitution as intended and I admit I was more than ready to believe anything out of that bunch o' yahoos. If they were still in power, then yes, I'd suspect that curtailing our rights was their primary goal.



Too bad the country has become so PC that we just can't stomp on the toes of the most likely suspects a little. Yes, that's profiling, but so what? Eventually "profiling" will take place on a massive, ugly scale when the Islamic fundamentalists hit us hard again as they plan to do.



9/11 brought us close to common sense. Another attack is apparently needed.

As Roy D. Mercer would say "you must have a weak memory" That whats wrong with lots of people in this country,they have weak memories. Too many people have forgot what happen on 9-11. Something has to be done to try to prevent it from happening again. NETim and Shovelhead hit the nail on the head.
