I spoke with Allen Schaeffer, the Executive Director of the Diesel Technology Form (DTF) (http://www.dieselforum.org) today by phone. I called to inquire about diesel user groups such as the TDR joining the DTF. At this time, only engine manufacturers and suppliers, OEMs, etc. , are eligible to actually “join” the Forum. However, Mr. Schaeffer is interested in getting diesel user groups and “clubs” involved in the DTF activities. He mentioned that he had been in contact with the TDR admin staff (I assume Robert Patton) and had discussed ways in which the TDR could participate in some of the DTF activities. Diesel user groups and clubs are being encouraged to “join” their “Friends of Diesel” club which essentially gets you on a e-mailing list for the most recent news affecting diesel technology.
In light of recent anti-diesel rhetoric in the media, we need a pro-diesel advocate to balance out the anti-diesel propaganda. I encourage every one here, all 13,000+ members, to visit the DTF site and e-mail the DTF at -- email address removed -- to show our support for their efforts and to get on their “Friends of Diesel” mailing list. Everyone contacting their congressmen/senators supporting clean diesel engine technology wouldn't hurt either. Come on folks, what do you say?
