BOMBs Away! :D

Woo Hoo! Oo. Turbo housing and injectors arrived today. Now if only the BHAF would show up!!!!!

Poll:

Part 1 - Should I put em in now or wait until I do my transmission next month?

Part 2 - How long do you think I can hold out? I swear I'll take it easy on the transmission. Honest  hehehe

Who want's to come help! :D

jbolt,

If it were me, I'd have already installed the housing and injectors and done a burnout:D As for the transmission... ... . can't really say, but mine has been holding out just fine (so far  ) for about 20K mi after all of my mods and a lead foot.

If you can possibly wait, it might be fun to do everything at once. transmission, injectors, housing, pump tweaking, BHAF. You'd get a heck of a kick in the pants taking it out for a drive the first time:D

There's something to be said about doing mods one at a time. You know the effect of each mod. Just my $. 02. :)

Whatever you do, let us know how big your :D is afterward.

JFitzgerald, good point. I should clarify a couple of things from my first post. I was just kidding about putting in everything at once, that is asking for trouble. Changing more than one variable at a time will make things more difficult for you when you go to make adjustments or fix a problem (don't underestimate this one). You should have a good feeling for what effect each modification, change, adjustment, etc. has on your performance. Monitor everything possible like your boost, EGT, rpm, trans temp, seat of pants, and so on. Some mild power enhancement should be just fine for the transmission. But, as with all mods, no matter what you do, if you're gonna play, you've got to be prepared to pay. That being said..... go and install your housing and injectors. You should probably install the housing first to minimize smoke and because the housing is not adjustable in any way (unless it has a wastegate) you won't have to touch it again. Then on to the injectors and pump tweaking:D Let us know how it turns out. Please post any questions you have.

Cheers,

Sean

And, I'll reiterate some good advice from BushWakr - write down the items above as you make changes... . unless you have a better memory than I do. :D

Awe come on you mean I can’t just throw on the turbo housing, swap the injectors, tear all the tamper caps off the VE pump and make every adjustment at once!

As timid as I get tinkering on my only vehicle it will probably take me half a day to just change the turbo housing.

This does bring up some questions though. Say I get the turbo housing and injectors in but don’t have the time to do the pump adjustments. Will it be okay to drive?

On our trip over the Thanksgiving week I was able to get good baseline readings on my gauges. Got em written down and everything! :D

If you put in the injectors and don't adjust the pump right away, that'll be just fine. However, your idle speed may drop a bit. If it's still at 650 or so in gear you'll be ok. Do you have good instructions for changing the turbine housing? There are several tricks to get it removed if it decides to put up a fight.

thanks Sean,

I do not have "good" instructions if it puts up a fight. I do have the factory manuals and I have read a few posts on this.
