I had a little cologne leaking from around the #1 delivery valve... The kid I bought the truck from had just finished up replacing the timing cover (KDP bit him) and he had some trouble setting the timing, so I know the #1 DV was in and out a few times.
I ordered the DV socket from Piers yesterday and had it shipped 2nd day air, and the thing showed up about an hour ago! I know Piers is good, but that's just plain showing off!

I got the DV out and cleaned everything up w/ brake cleaner, looked down in the hole and noticed a little crud around the seat down there... I believe it was little flakes of engine paint that inadvertantly fell in there (gee, could it have been from the injector line being bent out of the way :-{} )
oh well, got everything hooked back up, cracked the #1 injector line at the injector and turned it over a couple times... then I realized that there's that line connecting all the injectors, and I think I'd read somewhere to crack every other injector line, so I cracked all the odd numbered lines and turned it over a few more times... tightened them up when I saw cologne weaping from the lines, hosed everything off with brake cleaner (injector lines and DV line/fitting/etc. ) and went to fire it up. belched some nice smoke a couple times and finally fired up the third try.
at first I thought I hadn't gotten all the air out of the system because the truck would go to die when I hit the clutch and the revs fell, but I attribute that to it getting down into the 20's last night and not having the truck plugged in.
left a plume of white smoke during the warm-up driving when I inadvertantly gave it a little too much throttle and got the boost up over 10psi...
but once it got up to temp and I was able to give it some throttle, everything felt good... drops to a rock solid idle when clutching it even from high RPM, feels smooth accelerating, etc.
I realize this stuff is like brushing your teeth or tying your shoes to a lot of you guys, but this was the deepest I'd ever been into one of these things! LOL! (hence my self-given nickname "the greenhorn"
)
when I got back to the house, I popped the hood w/ the engine running and didn't see any fuel leaks... but, if one should develop, I feel a little more confident in my ability to fix it! Oo.
