Wowzy, when one door closes it's amazing what can open up.

As for towing trailers, I have no personal experience, but the killer is getting paid mileage one way only. Just like the OTR guys, your are most likely only gettin paid if'n you're hauling. The other part is figgering out if your back, butt and kidneys can deal with it. Does Mopar offer an air ride option??

Good luck with your search.

Got called for the interview for the Big One yesterday and found out that the other guy that was elligible for an interview wasn't being considered anymore because of unstable work record.

I went to the interview and all things went well as it seemed on my side of the table. The President of the company was doing the interview. I didn't need to know that much info and it seemed more of an interigation(sp?) than an interview. Every question that he threw at me, I threw the correct answer right back at him. He seemed impressed.

He said he would be giving me another interview later next week. He told me that my training would be in Speyer, Germany. It's about 70 miles from Frankfurt. If hired I would be leaving the last week in August. The last leg of training will be just in time for Octoberfest!!

Anyone know of this place?

One interview down, One more to go.

I've been getting calls on a regular basis from the "Big One" too make sure I'm still interested in the position. It seems that the company won't be ready to send whomever they hire for this job to Germany until the end of this month. So I won't be hired for at least until the middle of this month.

So while I'm waiting, I decided to take a Maintenance position at a local Poultry processing plant. They make the Maggot Nuggets and chicken patties for McDonalds. I went for 2 interviews and requested both times that they give me a tour of the place. Somehow I got shuffled around and out the door before I could get a tour.

I took the job and started today. I first had to go through their Dis-orientation and even when I requested a tour first they still avoided it by telling me that they'd do it after the orientation.

After the orientation I was finally toured very quickly through the plant and didn't like what I saw one IOTA!! Then I was put with the rest of the maintenance team and realized that this was not where I wanted to be. I opened up a panel and got a whiff of decomposing chicken parts that had hidden themselves in the nooks and crannies. I motioned for the Supervisor to come over and told him I needed to speak to him in his office. I had a good heart to heart talk with him about that nasty plant.

He was a pretty decent throughout the talk and I found out that the plant had been running since 1983 and their most senior maintenance employee only had been there for 11 months. I said that I can believe that and turned in my Hardhat.

It was the shortest time that I have ever worked at a job and I was only there for 5. 5 hours. This place is so bad and filthy that even the cigarette that I'm smoking now tastes like Chicken!!

Well I have another one lined up for tomorrow and I've taken that tour and it really seems nice compared to this place!

The only reason I chose the processing plant was it is only 2. 5 miles from my house and the other one is about 15 miles.

Luckily Hwy. 29 traffic diffuses the air and I never smell it. I have driven by it a few times and you have to hold your breath when conditions are right. It really isn't bad as it was 10 years ago because local citizens had the city cite a new ordinance causing the company to build a multi-million dollar chicken waste containment facility.

Property values are really low for about a mile radius.

Tried the new job out today and it seems to be a great job. I'm working with a team that assembles guage panels and flow controls for G. E.

Best part in this 100ºF weather is that the job is inside completely air conditioned. I think I can live with that. :D
