Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) The Imfamous Exhaust Manifold Bolt

Well I have heard much talk about losing and or breaking the lower rear exhaust manifold bolt. I have lost mine and it is not broke off. Not happy about it but it beats have to tear it down and drill out the broke off bolt. My questions is, when you lose one, where can you buy the replacement at? Cummins? Dodge? I see they have a spacer on them also so that leaves the hardware store out. If it was broke off, I would replace the manifold with the three piece one but since it is just gone, I can't see going through that much work. I would appreciate and comments on where to get a bolt. Thanks!

P/N 5012557AA SCREW, Cap (about $2. 25 list)
P/N 5015717AA SPACER, Exhaust Manifold (about $3. 25 list)

manifold bolts

I broke off 3 of the things. Just the gaskets were $76. 00 at dodge for my

02. The gaskets and the bolts from cummins were just $54. 00. So you might

want check with cummins your self. But I did get mine through a diesel shop

though. My manifold was also warped so bad I couldn't get it back on. Dodge

replaced it Hope this helps!

thats way too high for those, I have an extra set in my tool box now, let me know if anyone needs them, they wont be that high.

Mine fell out a couple of months ago, and for the life of me I cannot get it back in. I even tried to switch it with another manifold bolt, just won't start threading back into the head.

Anyone have a sure fired way of doing this?

Not really, they make manifold spreaders for Chevy 350's I have used a few times. Try loosening all the bolts a little and see what happens. It has shrunk more than likely, most of them do. I never had a problem with the stock bolts before I tossed em when I did the ATS swap.
