That's wierd, my truck will lock/unlock no matter where the keys are. I usually take the remote with me into the store and leave the truck running. My previous Ford wouldn't let me do that.

You can not lock the doors when the parking lights are on and the engine is off.

This lock business is year model dependant. I can lock the doors anytime at all on my '95. NO electronic funny business involved. Turn the key or push down the button and the door is locked. Period.
