The Media Is Not Helping.

It sems that the media want's classifeid information on where the troops are. Who's side are they on? Is that information really gonna help us . probably not. But Will benifit the enemy a great deal.

Also now days is every thing is related to the attacks now. Every story begins with since the Sept 11 attacks such and such is happening.

Now tonight the news channel did one of those ivestigative stories on bio terrorism. They wanted too know how ready are state was. So lets just anounce it to the entire state that we can't handle a mass bio threat. Gee wonder if the bad guy is tuning in tonight?? Then they go on to say just live your every day routine like it was before.

Now all I can stand too watch as far as news is the weather. The morans still can't get a 6 hour forecast right. I guess in my own eyes the media does one good thing for every 5 bad things said. I don't hate all the media but I think you may understand what I'm getting at.

I like to think that our government is smart enough to use the media as a tool by supplying them with misinformation. A good case in point is when the news announced on Thursday that 23 terrorist bank accounts would be frozen the following day. The terrorists should try to move their money before the freeze if they have any sense, alerting the authorities to other suspicious accounts to check out. I sure hope this is the way things work otherwise we're getting nowhere.

I have to agree the news media is interested in one thing. A story!I do like when our Prez,threatened congress with limiting information to them. I guess some of those idiots were leaking information about troop locations. GW is impressing me more and more,however his economic policys are a bit concerning... ... .



They have been running these Bio-threat storys for the last month. I think they should shut up about it. Like you say if the terorists have a TV they now have another weapon..... The good news is that our area is prepared. We had a grant from the goverment years back for a leak at the local Army Depot. And that mass Bio-threat takes a he11 of a lot more time,moneys and preparation to ready and distribute. These jokers are out for more bang for their buck. Like what they pulled at WTC and the Pentagon. I do believe they will hit again,however it will not be near as spectacular as the last. Mainly because we are looking for it now..... Israel has been under this threat for the last 50 years,we have to,however we have been lucky enough not to see it on our own shores. Until now.

Dittos to everything posted in this thread. The media are wrong again as usual. Part of the problem is the Internet and 24 hour cable. They HAVE to report something. It's just to bad it's a boatload of drivel.

Y'all are right... the media has to report something to the public just to keep our attention.

But over the past few years, the media has been doing nothing but "DOOM and GLOOM"

reporting. I no longer read the paper except for the comics and watch the news just for the

some sports scores. The media has a REALLY bad habit of making a mountain out of a

molehill, misconstruing information, and jumping to conclusions. I speak from experiance.

We wake up in the morning to negative things happening in the world, why can't the media

just once brighten our day with a positive thing or two? The American Red Cross Rep lady

said that prolonged exposure to the NYC/DC tragedies could damage us for the rest of

our lives. Then the media is ramrodding these same images down our throats, and on

top of that, the President wants us to continue to live our lives as normal as possible.

WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE SOME SENSE???

As for the classified information... Generally, the military has a rep who deals with the media

and gives them what information that they can without endangering national security and

the lives of those members who have been sent to duty. How they can get classified

info is by badgering a "source" to death. They really don't like dealing with the PR people

so they will find someone who is willing to blab. For example, the carrier that departed

from Japan to an "undisclosed" location was shown all over CNN's website. If I can access

this info... ANYONE can and all the media gets is a slap on the wrist while the blabbermouth

gets far worse. The media in this country is out of control and needs to put a muzzle on

itself before it is too late for everyone.



(Sorry about the soapbox rant, gents, I just don't like to see others get screwed the

way I did by the media. )

Heard an interesting veiw on the radio the other day. This guy who is a news writter was talking about the amount of news we get from the rest of the world. It seems that our news was comprised of 45% of world news in the 1970s. It now (before Afganastan)is only 18% of our news. I would think we would like to know what these little third world countrys are doing (before blowing up in our faces). He also stated that the first 72 hours after the 11th our news media was only acting on emotion and the facts were being ignored. I tend to agree with him.



Also was listening to a world broadcast yesterday in which a Afgan civilian was stating that the bombing of Afganastan was not all that bad"He had seen worst"!This guy is part of a messenger service in Afganastan and travels all over the country. I do hate to say this,but we need to either get some troops in there and get Osama and his merry Taliban or Nuke-em and come home.

Heard something rather shocking a few days ago. A CNN reporter was basically saying that if the media didn't have it's head up it's butt spending all day on reporting on OJ Simpson, Princess Di and Gary Conden that maybe the more important news would have warned us of the terrorist threat.

Maybe CNN can help out by showing some up close and personal shots of fragged Tali-wackers (actually Tali-wacked-ers).



A local channel in Bombay broadcasts in English and I catch it when I can. I figure that you may all have heard about Paki militants that took their magic carpet ride to Allah trying to raid an Indian airbase in Kashmir. Well that night on the local news they showed the dead perps all lined up on the street - complete with pooling blood oozing out from around the bodies. Tastefully done IMO - even with a pan around-pause for effect on the bodies-pan as they show the point of attack.



Maybe it will make the next bunch think twice - from this side of the afterlife they look just like the dead ones that don't get promised the 70 virgins.
