How could I get a tour of one those transfer station engines ? I think big machinery is just awesome. You guys from Ohio also have some serious mining equipment, do a search on the "big muskie" (now scrapped) it is unbelievable how big it is.
Come on down! I'll be taking a tour through one of the pumping stations here locally soon w/a couple of buds. They to wanna see this stuff!!
I applied for a job there, thinking My cousin could get me in as a mechanic. It was close. Thought I'd be working there as a mechanic on the engines. Instead I'm at another school. Go figure.
Know any friends who have friends that work for the gas co. ?
I have been around the Muskie. Growing up in the 70's my parents were then involved with the local 4X4 club. Johnny Appleseed. We spent lots o time down in the mining country known as Ohio Power, just south of us about two hours drive. The bucket is now on display. There is a good book out now about the worlds largest equipment. It's in there and rightfully so!!
Let me know when your taking your friends on that tour, I can try and road trip down there.
To actually have seen the "Muskie" must have been an unimaginable site. It was basically a walking building I've found some websites about draglines and there are still some big ones running in Ohio and out west.
