THE BEST

<font color=blue>Well I have looked every place I can think of for a musclecar that strikes my interest. But no luck so far.

Heres the deal :

I need members help in looking in the newspapers, peoples yards, frankly anyplace ya see a car I am after. If you give me the information on a vehicle and I purchase that vehicle I will pay you $100 to $500 depending on the vehicle and condition for your time and trouble.

The parameters are as follows :

Looking for a 1970 or 1971 Challenger Convertable. Need to keep the price under 10,000 dollars. Willing to look at ALL information on ANY 70 or 71 Challengers you may find, the first statement is only what I truely desire. Again please limit the price to $10,000.

So look everywhere you can... ... . Please! Post here or email me if you have any information or questions on what I proposed above. I am somewhat picky which is why I am enlisting the help of the fellow TDR members to "Broaden" my search. I realize for the price I am not going to get a "nice" car (least not convertable) so willing to look at caars that need work.

Waiting anxiously to hear from y'all..... Let the search begin!

Thanks in advance.

Kat:

I will keep my eye out for one out here
for you. Also, I will tell all of the
"N. C. TDR Group" about what you are
looking for.

I know you want a Challenger, but I
looked at an IMMACULATE 69' Dodge
Charger R/T with the factory 440
engine back in November. They were
asking $15,000. 00 for the car and
I was seriously thinking of buying it!
The dealership was in Wilmington, N. C.

Anyway, I will keep you posted.

R&R in Aurora, MO has a big enclosed building full of Mopars.

It's been a few years since I've been up there.

I drooled over the '66 Coronet R/T w/10,000 miles and a 426 Hemi.

They have thousands of salvage cars and hundreds of rebuilders kept inside.

Hey Kat I found one for you to check on. 1970 Challenger Con. $3500 . For details E-Mail this guy tonymopar@aol.com. Hope this pans out ,I will keep looking.

I have a friend who just got a 70 Challenger off his brother-in-law, who got it new. Its nothing special, just a 318 yellow, vinal top car. It spent its life in California, a few years in N. C.

At any rate, the car belongs to his dad, who is holding it hostage until he pays him some money for previous debts. The old man is threatening to sell it if the son doesnt get his head out of his a$$.

If you are interested, I will say something to find out if the car is for sale yet. Email me if you want me to look into it.

Kat - I picked up one of those picture magazines advertising specialty cars today thinking of you. Man - 70 and 71 Challengers get a pretty penny!! I thought my goats were valuable - jeez! Good luck on your search man - I didn't find any challengers below $15,000 (there were 15-20 advertised in it). You never know you may get VERY VERY lucky - I was when I found my '69 GTO convertible. It's the common story of "I can't believe what I found" - I found it at a used car lot (the under $4000 car kind). I had wanted this EXACT car since I was around 5 years old - '69 GTO convertible, 4 speed manual, and what I would call midnight blue (I think Pontiac called it Nightwatch Blue). From my research there were only 55 cars with the 4 speed manual and a convertible built in '69. I had resigned myself to never finding one and was going to go with a '67 hardtop (I like the older body style better in the hard tops). Well I was driving by this lot (Ed's car sales!!) and there she was - there was no way I could afford to buy a car at the time and I didn't know it was a 4 speed. About 2 hours later I couldn't keep my truck from pulling into the lot  saw that it was a 4 speed car and bought it on the spot even though I couldn't afford it. They had over 20 offers on the cars in the next 2 days for up to 4 times what I paid for it - they all offered me the same but I said it's not for sale - as a matter of fact that's my license plate for her "NO4SALE". I broke the transmission a few months later and haven't been able to get her back on the road yet - but I know she's in the garage and MINE!! Amazing finds do happen, they can just take A LONG time!!

Anyhow thanks ..... keep looking.

That phone number doesn't work? Can you verify the number or have any idea on the new number???? Thanks!

Sorry for the "big" picture above, I'll fix it when I get home from work tonight, on my home monitor it fits fine on the screen but since I looked at it from work I realize not everyone runs the same resolution as me (1024x768) on a 19" monitor. Its still a nice car... . 340/727tranny ... ... hmmmm

Anyone else find any more cars??? #ad

Kat,if you're interested,Car & Driver TV on TNN does a piece on the Challenger this weekend.
Some interesting history and trivia,I didn't realize how few were made.

kat , R+R has closed down as of a year or so ago , the guy that owned it died and i'm pretty sure they just auctioned it off .

i saw that 70 roadrunner convert that you called about , it was real rough for what it was advertised for , you would have been into it for close to 30k by the time were done, probably the same situation on that challenger , if it was only 3k.

oh and i WOULD NOT buy a car on ebay , 75% of the cars that are on there are there for a reason , can't sell it to someone who can actually see what itreally looks like in person , then put it on the web . i like to think of ebay as a place for people with more money than brains when it comes to buying mopars and parts ... BEWARE... #ad
