Tomey, thanks for hiding the keys! I was telling my wife I'm gonna rent an RV and camp out in your parking lot untill the truck comes in, like they used to do for the new Star Wars movies, she looked at me funny? Maybe I could stick around a few days and sell test drives, being a 4x2 it will haul a55!

325/600

Okay guys I have to eat some crow! I called a friend of mine at DC, he called the production scheduler. Who confirmed that the 600 can be had with the Auto. You guys were right! In fact the first 325/600 trucks were being built today. Some with Automatic. I also found out that the 305 engine my still be around for a awhile. So if someone orders the HO they would get the 305. The 325/600 is not called an HO, just the 600 engine. I also got the impression that the HO was not approved for California and other states, but the 325/600 was. I say this because my friend said, "we were so pleased that the 325 got approved for California. but we are keeping the HO for awhile"! According to him this is to see if there is any call for it. I don't know why anyone would want the HO when they can get the 325?? But if that is the case California and the other states will get the 600 engine, but everywhere else has a choice between the two engines.

It will be sad if my 325 auto 4x4 crew on order comes in as a 305.

that said, dc said all diesel builds are held till 1/15 and will all get 325 motors. all other configurations are supposed to be ended.

I saw the test trucks with a crew and a half cab- two benches and a space behind the rear seat, about 2 feet longer cab. some with windows in the rear. the dodge is the smallest drew cab out there, barely bigger than the extended cab versions. the ford rear section is about a loot longer and the seats are angled more.

Just to toss some noise in to the Nissan/Toyota mumbling- In the early 80's there was sweet I-6 diesel made by... Chrysler/Nissan. Don't know what ever happened to it, I think it might have been for marine applications. It was a little too pricey at the time to replace the Perkins in my '64 1/2 ton Dodge.

Wasn't this engine offered in some Dodge trucks back then? I've heard it was a real dog.

I specified in my order that I would get the 325/600. It was ordered as an ETH (same order code as the old HO). If it comes in as a 305, I won't accept it.

ACerf,

well, we are getting somewhere, BUT... .

- There is still only one order code, ETH. Forget about "HO" and "600". For all intents and purposes The ETC "SO" has been eliminated and the new ETH is called a "600" instead of an "HO". You don't order an "HO" or a "600", you order an ETH.

Sorry, I think you've likely recieved erroneous information again. :)

There is absolutely no reason for DC to offer the old HO alongside the 600. None.

Keep in mind that the HO does not meet the latest emmissions regulations.

Dave

The "HO" never met the CARB standards and does not meet the Federal standards for 2004. So it would be useful maybe for trucks shipping to for instance China or Africa where they have no emissions standards. That's it.

Blakers- the Perkins offered by Dodge was for the larger trucks. I had a little tractor engine ~65hp and 4 cylinders with a stock 4 spd. in Frankendodge. The C-N engine must not have been very successful because it seems like nobody's heard of them. Probably designed for Puttputt-Maru's smoking fish around the home island. :)

The information I received with regards to HO and 600 engine was "stright from DC". My contact at DC, also spoke to the Scheduler for Production! As he said both engines are being offered as we speak. Forget about the order code! I am sure if you opted for for the 305 you can get the code for it from the dealer. The other reason that both engines are still out there could be that they already had orders for the 305 prior to the 325 being offered. I think there are quite a few 2004 HO 305 out there already! And bet some still sitting on the dealers lot for sale! We all knew the SO has been dropped, I believe no one questioned that. Like I said previously, quote "they are keeping the 305 to see if there is any calls for it". What part of this quote doesn't anyone under stand? That is what my friend told me. So don't disagree with me, disagree with them! Things change but not always over night, I am sure the 600 engine will be the only one offered, but apparently not yet!

ACerf,

Don't get excited!;)

I've heard of lots of posts "straight from DC", and often thier wrong, wrong, wrong!!! Just like you heard no 600 autos.

I understand what you posted, I just happen to think you're wrong.

If they make a HO after Jan. 1st 2004, I'll be happy to admit being wrong, but I don't think I'll have to admit anything!

I don't have any more info than anyone else on this, but common sense says, "I don't think so".

Dave

PS. you'd still need another engine code if it was a valid option. Ask your contact that.

Crew and a half cab? My dream truck :--) Details PLEASE? :D

More than likely, any remaining 305/555 trucks were orders held over for options that were not available when the order was entered (UConnect, Navigation, etc. ). Since there is a price difference between the 305 and 325, DC may fill held orders with remaining 305 engines. Doubtful that there are many of them, and they were probably all taken care of by the end of last week.

This is all I have to say on the subject, and frankly I don't care if the make the 305 or not. This was just information from a Good Source! My friend as yet to steer me wrong on info. He took to the time to call someone else to provide me with info, that I thought people might be interested in. I guess I will know better next time!

Acerf I was told that even though I ordered mine in California in December as a HO 305 it would be built as a 325/600 because the build date is in January. This source is from HQ Dodge. I have not found out about the Air Brake yet but soon will. The New Year build dates are all 325/600 engines with the autos if ordered in that config. the other engines have been discontinued.

Acerf,

Thanks for your information. I also have heard they will offer both engines until further notice. Dodge will probably wait and see what the demands are for both engines and decide which direction to go. Thanks again. I am waiting a couple more months before getting my third CTD. I druel every day on this website about the news of great things to come.
