The new 600?

I have searched for some time trying to find out if I got hosed or if I truly got a new 600. Is there anywhere on the truck or motor that would tell me? Of course the salesman and his manager swore that it was the new motor, but I am not sure. Sorry for the lack of knowledge, but I am ready to start adding things to it.

1) Look on the left side of the valve cover. It should show 325 HP if it's a 600.



2) You can look for the (much talked about) CAT, forward of the muffler on the exhaust pipe.



3) The truck build date should be on a sticker on the driver's door. If it was built in 2004, it's a 600.



4) If the fan shroud is attached to the engine and not the radiator frame, it's a 600.



5) Some window stickers show the 600 engnine. Mine does not, so you can't rely on the sticker. Both the 305/555 and the 325/600 are option code ETH, so that doesn't help.



6) The price on the Cummins 600 option on the window sticker is $5360. I think the 305/555 was about $200 less.
