Yanmar 2cyl diesel tractor

Thought you might like to see this. But I did my best

to post a picture but it wont post! The new

International pickup is a Quad cab With a 466 ci diesel motor,4x4 dually. If someone can post a photo or 2 that would be great. Jerry

what a toilet...

The DT466 they're stuffing into that thing is a joke - even without knowing hardly anything about the DT466's... the numbers still don't exactly add up. It sounds like something I'd see from Honda:

"The 7. 6-liter International® DT 466 diesel engine has 220 hp and 540 lb-ft of torque. Features include a proven wet-sleeve design, the EVRT® electronically controlled turbocharger and four valves percylinder. The engine delivers responsive acceleration, outstanding fuel efficiency and extended serviceability. A 500,000-miles-to-engineoverhaul ensures long-term

durability. "

or...

"The legendary International® DT 466 diesel engine provides up to 6 tons of hauling power. " Wow! I better sell my 6BT's to buy a bigger engine that'll tow less!!!

Here's the pictures I yoinked from the .pdf...

Matt

Saw one at the truck show this week-end... REAL tall, cool lookin'. $100,000 means my little quad cab will do just fine.

The little rich boys will be buying these till the novelty wears off... .

Sounds hopelessly underpowered. However, International could be onto something here. There's often talk on here about wishing we could build our trucks like they build big trucks, where you pick from a variety of engines, frames, axles, etc.

If they offered this truck with a C8. 3 and a 7 or 10 speed manual transmission, I'd start saving my cash today.

Its not too terribly underpowered. We are just spoiled. If you want more. Get a ht 530.

The dt 466 is one bad mutha. You can do more get more out of it than you can imagine.

Even if it had decent BHP, torque, towing capacity (6 tons??? - gimme a break!), etc. , the bed rails are only about 3 feet too tall to tow a 5th wheel RV. :(

Matt - If the DT466 came from Honda, it would have about 100 BHP/liter (ref the original S2000 and Civic Si).

Towing/hauling capacity takes into account the vehicle weight--heavy vehicles tow/haul less than light ones, which is why this truck's rating is on par with a Dodge. Guessing the International weighs just a touch more than 7200lbs. ;)
Based on that logic, a Freightliner F-112 or F-120 couldn't tow or haul anything, right?

My point is, insofar as towing capacity is concerned, the statement above would only be true if the two trucks being compared had the same GCWR.

Rusty

OK, I missed the 25,999 lb GCWR. Now the truck makes even LESS sense. Why would I pay $100+K to get a 25,999 lb GCWR? I can beat that for much less money with a Freightliner FL-70 or Peterbilt 330-based 5ver puller. And many states exempt RVs from the 26,001 lb CDL requirement - witness the diesel pusher motorhomes towing H2 Hummers out there!!

If it was just another case of a fool and their money being soon departed, then I could care less what IH does for chump change. A well heeled person can buy one, safety however will take a back seat.
