The Converter stays closed all times expect stopped vehicle, even when shifting the gears, so the springs smooth the shift.

The difference between my 68rfe and my mother-in-law's new 8 speed is amazing. I don't think it will be too long until we have an 8 speed in the big trucks as standard equipment.

Tell you what I sure Like the new 8 sp . this is also our First ever jeep vehicle and we got the Eco diesle Jeep and so far Love it .the trans has a very smooth shift pattern. or you can go into sport mode and shift it yourself . That's Sweet .

I really like the transmission in the ED. The software is cleverly done. I do a lot of towing with mine and I'm right at the rated capacity of the truck. The transmission is very good about being in the right gear. It's definately smarter then my various previous trucks.
