Well I've had the 275rv injectors and edge ez for 2 years now and I'm wanting more power. I've got gauges, BHAF, 4" exhaust. So what should I do next? I got the truck with 120,000 miles on it and now it has 171,000 miles. I don't know how old the clutch is, probably stock, it still holds up fine. I don't tow much, or haul much. Here's what I am thinking

edge comp or something similar

a set of injectors: don't know who's, or what HP

a new turbo: larger ex side

new intake and/or ex manifold

I get about 17mpg now and I don't want to loose that. Also I'm not looking to spend a thousand bucks. any suggestions.

Well injectors and clutch will probably put you over $1000. So I guess you should really consider what HP level you want to go too. You could sell your EZ and pick up a comp and that would give you a good kick in the pants. I suppose you could sell your 275's and that could help you with injectors. I slipped my stock clutch with a set of DD1's and comp in 6th gear. Your stock HX35 will handle 350 or so pretty well. 14cm wastegated housings are pricey.

If you are a do-it-yourselfer you could get some Jammer injector nozzles for not much $'s and gain 50+HP depending which you go for.

A comp would gain you around 50HP over the EZ with in cab adjustability.

A SMARTY wouldn't give you 50HP, maybe 30HP or so but your truck would feel the "funnest" of these options.

Oh by the way ALL of these options will eventually DESTROY youe clutch

Hope this helps

John

I'm also with the jammer nozzle idea. I have Stage 4s (125hp) they work pretty good. Also I hear a smarty will be a really cool thing to have, i think i,m gonna order one first thing tues morning.

so I guess my first choice should be a new clutch? As far as how much HP, how much HP can I make and be driveable? I was thinking about 350HP. Other than the clutch, will the NV4500 and DANA 80 handle that? I'm not talking about going balls out 24/7, I'm just tired of what I've got.

What is a Smarty? I've read it's a programm, so what happens if you don't like the program. can you unprogram it?

I have to recommend the SMARTY. . just stack it on top of the EZ and you will get a serious kick in the pants. it wont show it on the dyno so much for peak HP but your power band is phenominally larger.

You have 10 different programs to choose from with the smarty. They are all listed on their website. Be sure not to mix it up with the 3rd gen model which can add up to 170HP!!!!!

Depends on your definition of drivable. Most would say 450-500 is the most you would want to run on the street. After that you could still drive it after some major mods and a light foot.

This a before and after as the smarty was my last mod. Red berore and blue after. It feels even more than it looks on the graph. The turbo splools at least twice as fast as stock, that isn't shown on the graph.

so. . I can use the smarty with the EZ, or should I just ditch the EZ and run the Smarty. Man I haven't been on this site in months and it's like a whole new world.

Now I'm working on putting miter cut stacks on the truck because MY WIFE suggested them! THAT'S cool.

you just plug the smarty into the dignostic plug and reprogram your ecm and then your ez adds to that program. Better yet, google search smarty and read about it. Mads electronics makes it. also power by poole sells them and explains how they work! Even reads dignostic codes! Really neat product!

You are pretty well maxed-out for your stock clutch. I was running the same set-up and was not having any problems out of my clutch. But, when i replaced the e-z with a Juice with attitude my clutch went south real fast. Randy

so a SMARTY instead of injectors? Why not the added timing?

What about the intake and ex manifolds, not worth the $$$???

Smarty changes dramatically how the truck drives, you have to experience it to believe it. Yes injectors are nice too

The EZ already advances the timing. You don't want to go too far and blow your head gasket.

Intake and exhaust manifolds aren't needed at your power level. They would help but not much until you are 450HP+.
