I'm seriously debating one of these for my 04. 5 at this point. I tow extensively with this truck, but when I'm empty, I want to flat out get somewhere:)

Do all boxes provide adjustments and can these be done from the inside of the cab? Something pretty slick about being able to dial up a diesel fart when needed;)

Are there combo fuel/timing boxes without having to stack?

Are they all priced somewhat the same or is there a huge step up (I know the banks is a touch pricey) and are the more expensive boxes worth the additional cost?

Easy of installation? Feel free to rate them if you've had multiples.

Real world experience: What has blown up, under what circumstance with which box? Mileage gain or loss? Any other quirks or issues? With 150k on the clock, I'm not to worried about throwing a code;)

Power/performance/piece of mind gains with other mods (turbos, cams, exhaust, etc)

Thanks!

Not all... But the EDGE juice and TST powermax, and with outlook monitor-the bullydog DO

The only pressure/timing/duration is the Bullydog/Quadzilla Downloader

The TST+ EZ is the only two i have had, EZ is Duh, easy (as the name inmplies) and the TST, well... 30 minutes worth (15 minutes after you get the hang of it)

The TST can eat turbos for lunch if not careful about wastgating the turbo, and even then use levels 5+ at your own pearl

Thanks!

Get a nice single to hold down the TST (barely, and even then still twins are still the better choice) - And a free'd up muffler/exhaust

I love my VanAaken smart box level 2. It is a duration only box. I made the decision to buy this box over the EZ, Banks, and other pressure boxes because I dont like the idea of ramping up rail pressure any time and especially not all the time. The TST box is more than I needed and I do not have enough self control to not crank it up. My other option was the level one smart box which is pressure and a little timing. It only ramps pressure when you are getting on it. The Duration box is the same way, it only adds duration when it senses that you need it. I am sure there is a better explanation on how it works, I just know that it runs 10 times smoother and I got about 1. 2 mpg better. I would definatly buy another!!

PS. I forgot. Ten minute install and Adjustable in cab.

I'm interested in purchasing a box as well, if not two.

If you read the other EZ thread, you'll probably end up buying one. The latest TDR issue said the EZ doesn't cause the pressure relief valve on the common rail to open continuously, which seems to be a good thing.

I am nervous about a pressure box, as I don't want to pay for a fuel pump.

I also talked with one of the guys at Piers, and they really endorsed the TST box. They told me that the TST will add all the fuel the common rail can deliver. According to them there is no need to add pressure to the mix. Other threads seem to confirm this, as they report max performance from the TST when set around 7x7, and if you add a pressure box, max output occurs at a lower setting like 5x5. This would indicate that the injector pump cannot deliver any more fuel, as performance drops when turning the TST up more when stacked.

I also called Banks. They told me that their box does pressure, timing AND duration. No specifics on how it works, but I'm afraid of it due to some experiences/reports from other TDR members. I do like their exhaust, though.

I'm leaning towards the TST. I like the fact that you can set it on 1x1 which just changes timing to increase fuel economy in addition to a little power. Plus the box will allow for major mods later if you want to go there. Sure, you can snap a turbo shaft, but if you have some self control I think it will be a great addition. Additionally it will not put additional strain on the injector pump by making it run at 10% or more above its intended pressure.

I don't see how the EZ will increase fuel economy, even on its lowest setting. More fuel pressure means more fuel injected, which I assume would reduce economy.

I'm looking forward to another round of discussion on boxes. I can never learn enough.

The bully dog downloader is pressure, duration, and timing isn't it? The RAMIFIER is just fuel and timing? I'm a real fuel miser and am considering buying a box just for fuel mileage increase.

The juice is timing and duration, but they dont make one for my motor! 305/555! So my choices are more limited. If I had a 600 the decision might have been different!

Ahhhhhhhh ok, that makes sense then!:D

Another question I forgot to ask, at what point does the stock clutch start spinning freely and require an upgrade?

I called last week and they told me the 305 Juice will be out in April

I hope the HOT program is available right away... then the TST vs Juice test will be alot more apples to apples

What kind of prices are there out there for the Edge for the 600? Local shop has them for 539. 00 + tax. Where do I need to look?

My juice set on 5x5 couldn't make the clutch noticabely slip. the box did however say in the records display that my clutch slippage was up to 5% or so. I could never feel it slip.

then i had the hot version downloaded which is about 180hp and my clutch slips BAD :-laf

now this is all based on town and highway driving w/o pulling anything. I'm sure if your pulling a heavy load up a grade with the box on 5x5 you could probably slip it a little more but your egt's would probably stop you before you could get to that point.

Don't own a box "yet", but I see the Predator is still "guarantee" of 100 miles more per tank. Vendor that keeps tooting this is in Helena, Montana. Doc

What is up with the upcoming quadzilla box? Also, what about an EZ/ Van Aaken Smart box (duration) stack? Anybody? I need to replace this POS 6 gun. Biggest pile of crap I've bought. Banks isn't sittin to well with me.

Tst is too much  I know I don't have the restraint! :D
