So let me get this straight: during Regen, when the system is off line cleaning itself, the vehicle exceeds emissions standards. Who thought otherwise????? Lawyers are just like politicians; too stupid to see the forest for the trees.
 
Both of the articles posted on this thread are unrelated to the original dieselgate article because these articles address pre-def Ram trucks. The original dieselgate article only reports on 2013--2015 trucks. So i think this thread is unrelated to the original thread?????? And the EPA has issues with the NOx. And the SCR catalyst? I suspect they are still working out the details of how to pragmatically implement the recall.
 
So this is basically the drum I've been beating. Any vehicle, under normal op can be driven in a way to be a gross polluter. It's just the way it is.
Now it appears since some witch hunt from West Va decided to measure exhaust emissions in a way not intended, the sickness spreads real quick! This won't be the last.
I sure hope nobody gets the idea to measure underway active regen emissions given by a (any) EPA '08 class 8 rig.
 
This is nothing more than a left wing nut hugger law firm holding their hand out for a free meal. Cummins worked with the EPA on an AB&T system when they developed the LNT engines.

What's the duration of the warranty on the emissions hardware anyway? Isn't it the same as the power train warranty?
 
Emissions don't appear to be covered under powertrain warranty. There is a federal law showing some emissions parts have different warranty (depending on the part). Some parts 5 years/50,000 others 8 years/80,000.

If emissions on those model years were really over the limit, the EPA would be all over it. That does not appear to be the case so the law firm's testing "testing" is suspect in my mind. They might be able to claim that the equipment isn't durable but if the EPA doesn't back them up on their claim of not meeting emissions standards, it may be a tough row to hoe.

The other article was an EPA mandated recall of 405 Cummins engines due to what the article said was missing emissions equipment. This is totally different from the class action suit that law firm is trying to put together.
