Gang,
some news for ya. Not a new product but a significant step forward for the Smarty...

MADS-Smarty REVOlution software

For the first time the Cummins engine performance tuning software can now be customized by the end customer. With the Smarty S-06, a first ever in the industry!!!

The Revolution starts here…

What has changed? At first sight not too much… Smarty's update now contains all years from 2003 to 2007 for the Dodge Cummins 5. 9L common rail trucks. The new software update is smaller in size than the previous ones! It takes less time to update your Smarty.
The new update is perfectly compatible with the previous firmware versions. (Sorry, the update for the S-04 is in the makes. ) The new update will be available for free download from our website once the beta testing phase has been completed.

It is still possible to download a ready to use performance software , just like today. You do not need to become a rocket scientist to tune your truck, Smarty will do it for you.

Yet , over time your truck's needs may ( or better worded WILL ) change and you need to adapt the tuning software to these changes.

Today, this becomes a reality !

When you enter the “ ECM update “ menu on Smarty you will now find a newly added chapter: “ Adjust Options “

Once entered, this menu allows you to choose between several items and levels of customization.

The items are :
 1. Speedlimiter
 2. RPM Limiter***
 3. Shift limiter***
 4. Torque Management levels
 5. Injection timing
 6. Rail Pressure
 7. Wastegate
The levels are :
Speedlimiter :
From 25 to 250 Mph in one mile increments.

RPM Limiter*** : Two selections.
# 0, Stock value. ( Default )
# 1 4000 RPM.

Shift Limiter*** : Two levels.
# 0 ; Stock value On. ( Default )
# 1 ; Off. ( Shift light indicator will be turned off. )

Torque Management : Four levels,
# 1 ; Stock.
# 2 ; “Mild”. ( Default )
# 3 ; “Moderate”.
# 4 ; “Wild” TM increase.

Injection Timing : Four levels.
# 1 ; Stock.
# 2 ; “Stock injectors”. ( Default )
# 3 ; “Aftermarket Injectors”.
# 4 ; “Less timing advance than “Aftermarket injectors”.

Rail pressure : Four levels.
# 1 ; Stock.
# 2 ; “Mild” Rail Pressure increase. ( Default )
# 3 ; “Moderate” Rail Pressure increase.
# 4 ; “Wild” Rail Pressure increase.

Wastegate : Two levels ( applies to 2004. 5 and up trucks only )
# 0; Stock. ( Default )
# 1; “ OFF “. ( same as in the aftermarket turbo softwares )

How does it work?
If you do not want to change the default software configuration simply skip the “ Adjust Options” menu and choose any # of the CaTCHER softwares you want, just like today.

If you want to change any (or all…) of the default values of the customize able items. Enter the “Adjust Options” menu, navigate with the “ > “ or “ < “ key to the item you want to customize, enter the value you want, DONE! Smarty will do the rest.

In addition… Smarty will memorize your preferred selection and apply it to all ECM updates you're going to do. As a simple example, you set the Speedlimiter to “100”
Smarty will always use that value for all ECM updates. That's, until you change the value again or return Smarty back to stock.

*** Available with the TNT Race tunes only. Only for use with fully prepared engines!

Since you're showing up on here, might as well ask the question.

Any updates for the S-03 2ND GENERATION VP-44 TRUCKS?

I have a question on the rail pressures: Do any of the optional rail pressures exceed the Cummins recommended maximum rail pressure at any rpm, or do they just bump the stock pressures up incrementally closer to that limit at the various rpms?

X2, glad to see this post is alive on TDR. A certain other site decided to kill the Revo thread. Thanks again Marco/Bob and the rest of the MADS crew for all your hard work. Looking forward to the new program, especially for the S04.

Jacob

The Revo software for the S-03 is the next item on the to do list.
6. 7L AFTER the S-03 is completed.

Marco

Id guess that the pressure wont go over the limit...

This is awesome!! Cant wait to get my truck modded to be able to take full advantage of this!! Great job

While this is active- what ever happened to the rumored software for the hrvp44- from long ago? Looking foreward to the new updates!! Thanks!

Here is a dyno run of my truck...

Malcolm<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

What gears and tire size are you running in that truck? Is 100 mph really only 1500 rpm? That's some crazy fast speed you're hitting there!

Injection Timing : Four levels.

# 1 ; Stock.

# 2 ; “Stock injectors”. ( Default )

# 3 ; “Aftermarket Injectors”.

# 4 ; “Less timing advance than “Aftermarket injectors”.

Im assuming that "stock" is just that stock timing. stock injectors is the advanced timing for the stock injectors then 3 is the more advanced timing for bigger injectors followed by a less timing advance for bigger injectors?

Also what are the details for the shift limiter?

Sounds like this may be good, but without information about what the programs do it will only make the number of combinations to try even more daunting. I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't have the desire to load then test drive and then evaluate 27 of the 512 possible combinations in a quest for better economy with no smoke. Though it sounds like only one 45 minute or so upload to the Smarty will be needed for all the combinations. Is that correct? If so that is great news!

Anyhow if MADS doesn't want the end user understand how the software changes the engine performance, please at least give us hints at the best combinations likely to maximize mpg in these times of frightening fuel prices!

For example will choosing #2 timing with #2 or #3 rail pressure increases improve economy? If so will it also increase the throttle touchiness, similar to the way one of the early beta towing softwares did? Do the different HP levels pull harder across the entire rpm range or just add top end power? How do the hp settings effect low end mpg?
