Bring the Banks Truck on!! Doesn't matter who is behind the wheel.

Rumor has it, that Greg will be in a Duramax, So who will be piloting the Dr. P truck?

2007 will be VERY INTERESTING indeed for the Pro-Mod Classes. There are a couple of Top Quality rigs being built for battle in the 2007 season. The 2007 season will be the season of issues... The new teams will be gettin a handle on these new rigs, and getting them down the tracks.

I feel the 2008 season will be the season of 7's. If the Pro-mods can't run 7's they probably won't be competitive. IMHO.

Let me start off by saying that I have no problems with you or your company.

However, saying that "Banks has more up their sleeve than most of you could

understand" is a little irresponsible/insulting on your part. How do you know what knowledge myself or some of the other TDR Members commenting here

know about Banks or what they are doing?? YOU DONT! Personally, I wouldn't have made that statement but since it is in print now, let's discuss it a little.

Personally, I know many things about Banks which I am not going to get into here on this website with you. But lets talk about his Banks LSR Truck. Since he ran and LOST BIG to the Bentz Dragster at the "2003 ATS Truckfest" how many times have you seen them run that thing against ANYONE again??? FWIW, they said at that event they would beat or be competitive with the dragster.

How many of his diesel performance products have you seen on any of the DHRA or NHDRA Diesel Pickups in either the "Pro-Street Trucks" or the "Quick Diesel" Classes?? Answer to that: NONE!!!

How many races has he run so far and WON with that new Banks Type-R Road Racing Duramax he recently built? You read my post above and he is breaking rear ends with an engine he says "is intentionally limited to 650 H. P. /800 lb. ft. of torque; BUT IT HAS MADE MUCH MORE ON THE DYNO!"

Honestly "Diesel Power", with you being in the diesel performance business do you really think 650 H. P. is going to be competitive with the likes of Keating, Garmon, Morrison, Stuckey or Spruill??? You and I both know those trucks are over 1000 H. P. and David Dunbar has proven that on his Dynojet 248 with Garmon and Morrisons Trucks!! If Banks is breaking parts at 650 H. P. what is going to happen at a drag strip with the kind of forces those trucks generate at the line??? And then there is the issue of Gale Banks saying he will do all of this WITHOUT ANY SMOKE!!!!! :-laf C'mon man... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

Greg Hogue was saying this also, and you know what, his "Dr Performance/Predator" Dodge Dakota smoked at the Atlanta Event!!

IMO,..... seeing is believing in the world of diesel drag racing! Guys like Scheid, Garmon, Morrison, Stuckey, Smith, Spruill, and even COMP along with the west coast guys of Fletcher and MADDOG are PROVING they can do it by getting out on a dragstrip to produce some REAL E. T. s and MPH!! Posting a picture of a truck and saying you are going to drag race it is only part of the equation! And Banks, Greg or anyone else saying that "noone will even come close" to a Banks Drag TruckDragster is a pretty bold statement considering the times that have ALREADY been run by some of the names I listed above.

Banks better "get on his horse" and get it all figured out there in Azusa, Ca. !

Because his "target time" to beat right now for any diesel dragster is the time that the Scheid Dragster ran at Clay City, Kentucky and that was 7. 55 @ 188 MPH!!

I stand by my earlier statement with ANY Banks Drag Vehicle, "I will believe it when I see it!" Oh,... ... . and I am not holding my breath!

I didn't know Banks was still in business. Customer service hasn't changed in years (sucks) which makes me wonder who actually buys their add ons.

Anyways, I think Banks doesn't like the Dr. P truck in a magazine stated as being the "quickest diesel on the planet". This is all a PR move by Banks to try and drum up business. You buying it?

I would break it. . if it had enough power.

Keating would have to show me what to do. Wheres the finish flagger? :-laf

How many passes would it take for a rookie to beat Gregs numbers,,... er... I mean his redlight? LOL

That’s a nice compliment, Thank you…

What a waste...

I agree with John P. , it's all hype and no go, unless like John P. said to me last night, if you have a 5th wheel and you want "a little" more power to pull it with, Banks is alright. His stuff looks cool and he know's how to market the stuff other than that, I'd rather have a Smarty coupled with a TST with a good fuel system for the same price you can get a "BIG HOSS" bundle for... (LOL) The TST "ALONE" will blow his 6 gun out of the water... To each his own. It's your money. Just my 0. 02 :D

You are very welcome! I deeply respect and admire ALL of you for what you have been able to accomplish. ;) And I know from attending alot of the drag race events that the elapsed times are going to get even lower. As I said, ALL of you are out there PROVING IT year after year and if you think back to how fast these trucks are getting it is really amazing!

Chris:

Thanks for the comments! You about summed it up! :-laf It was great to have met you and your wife at the dragstrip last night! Man, that "Smarty" in Cris S. 's truck was impressive! Thanks for letting him try it!

No prob, I'm just glad that I'm going home to New Mexico now, because I don't want to break his heart when I build my truck and beat him. (LOL) 04 305/555 standard cab short bed, TST SMARTY stacked, some nos, I. I. silver bullet, Walbro or FASS, I. I. injector's, built transmission, Modded CP3 dual feed lines, MP8, you get the idea, I should be in the 12's (LOL) :-laf I wanna see what a big single like that will do because cris is runnin 12's with a 64/12, I know that with the set up above^a silver bullet would work great, but not have the back pressure of twins.

john p, you are correct but also remember banks has a lot of money to spend, but they also have no sence on how to spend that money. the top diesel guys have that. resently banks also now has a new owner his son and he apparently is into the diesel race thing more than his dad, maybe he could build somthing better than a 10 second dragster... ... ... ... ... ... ... .

Having money to spend is cool, but he's 2 years behind the big boys... . and those guys aren't taking any time off.

The names have been listed. Fletcher is IMHO the fastist street "legal" truck out there. Now he's built another truck, one that can and will play with Banks... . Humm... I wonder how that's gonna go? OH wait... Maddog... with traction... will probably be knocking on his back door... as I recall reading... he drove that truck 1300 miles to dyno...

As far as "the top diesel guys have that. " Talking about expendable cash... Last time I checked... ALL the top guys were on a budget... and some a Tight one.

To have "no smoke" and be able to touch those guys... It's just not going to happen. I really think that this year we are going to see 7's out of one or more of these trucks. The Scheid Rail has done it, I'm sure the Bentz Rail is going to be close to follow. Keating and Fletcher... once they have the details worked through... . they will probably be there.

Minor point of clarification, we were the first to run a 7 with our dragster, and ready to improve in 2007.

And yes, most if not all of the top teams are on a small budget. Money helps, but time and persistance pays off.

Sorry Scott... For some reason I was thinking 6's and put 7's... :{

Might be the fat fingers and a little keyboard! (or just a nutcase for an operator! :-laf )

heh, I was trying to color match some stuff and one of hte bumper to bumper guys goes "that diesel have a turbo?" me: Yeah. "Do you have a banks kit?" me: "banks doesn't make power" him: well, I build mustangs, me "ford doesn't make power either :) "

Basically what I'm saying is banks has a name that everyone knows. That's it, and that's what makes him money some how. Until banks uses their name to get national attention to diesels, the lesser known (to the general public) will have to come up and smack the crap outa his trucks. And be on national news as well

You think that will ever happen? heh :)

Imagine, for example, if an Edge built CR truck smack a banks built CR truck around. What would that do for edge?

Josh Peters:

Very good post you have added! ;) I agree with you 100%! Your evaluation of Banks being two years behind is a pretty darn good estimate. Like you said, if he thinks the REAL DIESEL DRAG RACERS like Keating, Fletcher, Garmon, Stuckey, Morrison, Meredith, Spruill, Scheid, Smith or the Bentz's to name a few are just gonna "roll over" cause Banks says he is entering a truck, he has definitely got another thought coming!! And this "NO SMOKE" with a high performance diesel drag truck REALLY makes me laugh! :-laf

Greg Hogue and myself have debated this ad infinitim!!! :D Yeah, we all know that if you spray enough nitrous you are going to clear smoke up! And my bet is that is exactly what Banks will do so he doesn't ruin his "phony/baloney"

image!

We all need to remember his Banks LSR Truck ran a 12. 1 at the 2003 "ATS Truckfest" in Denver, Colorado against Scott Bentz's Dragster! :-laf Hell, my old 96' Dodge 12 valve daily driver can run a low 12!! AND his BRAND NEW Chevy Duramax powered road race truck is breaking rear ends with what GALE BANKS says is only putting out about "650-750" horespower! I can tell you guys this;... ... ..... he is going need ALOT MORE than that to take on the names I have listed above!! Yes Sir,... ... ... ..... I cannot wait to see him field this new drag truck next year!! I say; "Bring it On Gale!!" He is going to have ALL he can handle!!

What will really make things interesting is IF another big name actually sponsors another truck.

There are alot of What if's out there... . Scheids already has a rail... use what they've learned... drop it in a truck chassis... .

What if Edge actually pulls their truck out of the mothballs, and starts to listen to people that can build power. (Or is the "big" match up going to be Edge and Banks? LMAO)

What about BullyDog? They came out and played on Pinks... who's to say they couldn't make a tube truck run?

Industrial Injection anyone?

Geeze the possibilitys are endless... . And the people with set-up knowlege are everywhere... Comp is a perfect example. Get someone who understands the car, and someone else that understands the power curve... and who knows... this year could be a year of supprises!

I have a feeling that the other boys in the game know what's comming and are going to go a step or 2 farther. We are a pretty small group, really. A "secret" truck may not be Public knowlege, but the big boys in the game will know what's comming. Vendors talk.
