HAPPY EASTER GUYS AND GALS

leaf blower

It's been years since I last saw him. He owned the trucking company that transported the product and they only moved at night. There wasn't much else he could say, nor did I want to know, and everyone in the company had to be thoroughly vetted by a number of agencies. He did say that the storage sites were only the custodians of the product and if the site needed to be relocated it was at the producers cost. Must have been some nasty stuff.

Back in the early 2000's I worked for a hazmat response team. Every now and then, we'd come across something that was listed as "forbidden" in the hazmat shipping bible... Needless to say, a few customers were not happy when they had to keep some things.

Most memorable, were the times we had to call in our explosives guy to dispose of a few different chemicals.

I had my 24 hour course hazmat card while on our communities marina committee. I grabbed a couple other guys and we had the containment boom in the water before the fire was out, and put in around the scene the minute they were done. The next morning the CG and EPA did not federalize the cleanup because of our quick actions.

I really hated stringing out hard boom, but we needed it sometimes lol!!

We put in a little cigar boom early on to keep stuff from going out into the main channel. Then a whole trailer full of the Big Orange Boom with 16" ribbon(which is a lot of work to deploy) when the fire was out. Global Driving came later in the night an put their Big Orange boom around ours. Like a said the CG and EPA were very happy, turning the clean up over to our community and our insurance company. If they would have federalized it they would have charge 30K a day to manage it. Seven boats went to the bottom. It took several months to remove the boats, piers, pilings and debris from the bottom with Global Driving work under water for many hours.

Only 24 hours?? Mine was 40 back then, with a 10 hour one that popped up every few months... My safety guy was also the trainer for all SLC, UT fire and surrounding response teams...

I suppose he needed to practice on us, since we were the ones they called when it got really bad lol!!!

Edit: I don't really like seeing my face on the local news anymore... I really didn't like it back then either!
