Long Story... .

I have a DTT Transmission with DTT converter. Lasted a long while, then the converter went south. Had the trans "freshened up" locally, and he had some "problems". I dont want to talk about it...

Anyway, picked it up at the shop, now the converter does not lock up. Trans shifts good, 4th gear is fine, and he put the scan tool on it, and said the computer is "telling it" to lock up.

Orgianally the DTT Converter/Valve body had a "delay" in the converter lock up. It would not lock up under heavy throttle. Only when you let up on the throttle would it lock up. Not sure how that worked, but now it does not lock up at all...

I am not a transmission expert, but here is what I would do. Install a governor pressure gauge, and then when driving it down the road watch the gauge when it should be going into lockup. The pressure should increase at that time. If the pressure doesn't increase, then it could be in the electronic controls/sensors for the governor. If the pressure does go up, but there isn't any lockup, I would suspect something in the torque converter.

Did you replace the torque converter with a DTT one?

Paul

I have not contacted DTT yet. It is a DTT Converter. Just thought i would ask. I dont think any converter has a built delay, it has to be in the valve body, and these guys messed that up...

If it is not a special converter, then i will buy a new valve body. I can check the line pressures

I may be wrong but i think the "delay" you're talking about is in the programming of the computer. Depending on what your TPS is running voltage wise at WOT or near WOT the computer won't let the TC lock up. Doesn't sound like it's a problem with the TC or the VB (unless something else is wrong).

There is nothing "special" about their converters, other than high performance clutch, and lower stall.

I would check what paulb suggested and also hook up a scan tool with engine off, key on, check TPS voltage. WOT should be darn close to 5v.

You might discont the bat,for 3min. then put cable back on turn key on for 1min. turn off about 10sec. then start it up. Take it for a test drive.
