well guys it looks like i will be leaving the Dodge/Cummins world.

our new daughter came on the 21st of December. this past weekend i tried to put her pumkpin seat in the truck along with our 2 year old's car seat.

IT WONT FIT

in order to get the thing in there i had to run the pasenger seat all the way forward. then i got in and my knees were against the dash. when we use the truck it is for long trips and usually with a trailer of something or rather behind us. my wife cannot ride for hours at a time with hers knees in the dash and unable to recline.

that seals the deal. FOR SALE the truck is listed in the classifieds and i will start advertising it in our local papers. if anyone out there would like to inquire you can refer to add 2170 for my info.

way to go DC you just lost another customer to FORD.

That's too bad...

Are you going to go with a Powerjoke Excursion, or a crew cab p/u? Dodge is really shooting themselves in the foot.....

It's a bummer the quadcab is too small and sorry to see you go, but there's nothing wrong with a PSD. I've always had a soft spot for an F250 crewcab shortbed 4x.

I'm thinking white F250 CC lariat SB 4x4 i too have a soft spot for them.

Brandon, if i put her in the front seat then my wife would have to ride in the back seat or in the middle with the shifter in her lap.

all-be-it, i wouldnt mind coping a feel with her there. but after 4 or 5 hours of it i think she would get a little tired of it :D

I thought i could wait, but there is no way we are driving HER pos 2wd suburban everywhere :D

I really have enjoyed these trucks, but now that i have a family to haul around i need the room. too bad DC couldnt wake up sooner.

Dont worry guys, i WONT buy a Dura/Alli

At least NINE years of the Crew cab boys hollerin, Ford sales skyrocketing, and they still have their thumb.....

So. Todd..... Going to pull that new Ford?:D

I can fit two

Todd,

I can fit my 4 1/2 year old sons booster seat behind the passenger seat any my 18 month old daughters car seat behind the drivers seat. I have to move my seat forward a good bit but I drive pretty close to the wheel. Lately she has taken to flexing her leg muscles and pushing her feet into the back of my seat.

I need a real 4 door pickup with a 12 valve engine, guess I am going to have to build one in a year or so. Guess I should start looking for a F350 SD Crew Cab 4x4 with a blown engine now.

Trucks and Babes

I was in the same boat 3 years ago next month and started shopping around and finally found a rear facing seat that would fit the center of the 99 Q-Cab with the front center folded down. Just a thought and that is the safest place (according to them saftey type persons) although it's not as easy to get to them like the outer postions.

sorry to here your leaving us. i looked pretty hard at a f350/sb/cc single tire and it was a great truck, but it was know dodge with a cummins. if you look try out a single tire 1 ton there not much more and you get a greater gvw.

I have one of those carriers for my 3mo old that doubles as a car seat. I put it in the middle in the back w/the center folded down, I have a booster seat for my 2yr old and my 6yr old sits on the other side. All 5 of us fit just fine.

i'm 6'2" 240#, she' 5'7" xxx# so we're not small and neither are our kids. I like Dad's CC PJD but I could never stand the noise that thing makes:rolleyes:

There probably is not enough room for 2 full car seats side by side but if the older of the two is sitting facing forward a simpler restraint sytem is much cheaper than a new truck.

FWIW

Good luck!!

p. s. gotta love the youguns though:D:D

I was able to get all three kids in mine as BV and Mark said with an infant rear facing seat and a regular car seat. Put the regular car seat behind you and the rear facing seat in the middle with the center down. It is a real pain to load the infant in the middle, but a new truck was out of the question for me at the time. My next truck WILL be a true crew cab too, even if it has to be a Ford.

Sorry to see you go. Sure wish DC would wake up... I looked at a powerjoke before the CTD but dont like the engine or the fact it sits halfway under the windshield  , would rather have it under the hood. My bro has 3 PSD's and inspite of all the engine / replacement automatics he has had he still swears by ( at ;) ) them. Good luck!

Im ready to do the same thing,my 3 kids all fit,but its tight. 2 of them in car seats, its real tight. I just cant bring myself to buy a Ford,or an aluminum headed GM. If mine had 2-3 more " of room it would be fine, the pass seat needsto be stuffed all the way forward,I think my 96 had a lot more rear seat room than this one does, the intergated seat belts have made the seats thicker, which costs space.

Todd, Why not look into one of the companies that does conversions, a Dodge four door. You may take a beating selling a truck so new. While they get alot to do it, after factoring in the loss you might take selling a truck so new and the dollars a new POSPSD will be, the numbers might surprise you. Also, I'm a recovering PSD addict(clean and Mopar'd since 10/05/00) and I bet a bombaholic like you won't like the limited bombing that can be done on PSD. Spend a few days on the Ford sites to see what they live with. I've been there, done that.

I'd custom build an 80's Dodge Crew Cab, or have a 2nd Gen truck converted first.

If you're REALLY determined to get that new 40,000 PSD, I guess you can, but for the $ involved, I'd rather not.

Besides, I will drive a real Mopar till I can drive no more... Else I walk.

Todd, sorry to hear that the truck is for sale. As stated above, the middle seat in the rear is still the safest place for junior ( congrats, by the way !!!). You should have enough room for your older child adjacent to the newborn, give it a try. I haul kids around most everyday as I take my youngest (4) and my neighbors daughter (also 4) to pre-school 4 days a week. Many times I've had my oldest in the rear with them as well, seated in the middle with the lap belt. Though I prefer to disable the front pass. airbag and have my oldest in front, there's enough for all three.

I'm sure you have already thought this move through, but are you really willing to give up that Cummins for a Powerstroke, especially since you are a BOMBer ??? Before you know it, that bundle of joy will be walking and talking, while tooling around in a front facing seat. A few more years and she'll be in a booster seat, then before you know it, she'll be child seat free and feeding you Brittney Spears cd's from the rear seat. Trust me, been there and got the t-shirt :D .

Hope it works out for you, whichever path you take  .

well guys i appreciate the support. and i have thought long and hard about what to do.

the idea of building a older Crew Cab and swapping in a 500-600hp :D 12v has run through my mind more than once. just a note: my father owns a chain of body shops and i used to work in that trade before i realized i wanted to live past 40 :D i have also thought of taking a regular cab and building a crew out of it. i have looked at my truck with this in mind and dont think it would be the best cab to build from. the way the doors meet i would have to get the back wall of a regular cab first and then splice on the chevy back. it really would be better to just start with a regular cab. i also think i would rather have a 12v truck again. they are easier to work on and dont have this drive by wire we have in the 24v's.

but no matter what i do i have to start by selling this one.

i drove a CC XLT F250 4x4 last night. it had pretty well what i would want on it and the sticker was 38,300. they offered me 23,600 for my truck. i really didnt try to negotiate hard with them as im still not sure i want a new Ford. knowing they are more expensive and harder to bomb. and they still dont have the power we do.

Gene, if i buy a new ford there really is no reason to pull with it is there? :D

We put her car seat in the middle and the 'older kids' car seats on the sides. You have to lift the console slightly to get it in but it works fine.

We can also put it on the passenger side without slidiing it up too far, my wife is 5'10 and has plenty of room.

GO GET A NEW CAR SEAT !!!!!!!!!!!

I just Got one!!

Todd T,

Well I just bought 02' F350 Crew Cab Lariat Short Bed SRW and the truck has everything and I paid $37,583. 00 .

I paid 36,000 for my Dodge in 99' so I think I got a good deal You can get them down on the price, I'm starting to like the truck, I love the room the truck has it's HUGE in side:D And there are Child seat anchors behind the rear seat. My truck now has 1,100 miles and drive great and getting better with every mile! I only have one complaint that there isn't a Cummin's under the hood!! I bought my Dodge for one reason because of the Cummins, And I bought the ford because of the Crew CAb. !

As far as bombing if you buy a chip and there are a lot out there, you can see the same HP as Stage II injectors, That?s my plan any way... . Well good luck!!
