John. Can't explain what the problem may have been. Maybe vent cap was clogged and t-case built up pressure heating up and expanded blowing HPS past seal. Have used gear lube in my truck from 94, and still useing it with no problems. I tow a 25K tri-axle trailer with a backhoe for my business. No drips or seepage anywhere at 82K miles. Have talked to others that use gear lube, and some that use 30W engine oil, and like the product. Just my own personal experience with the gear lube.

Hmmm... that is strange!



Anyway, the NP208 transfer case in question was brand new with a normally unleaking tailshaft seal and a brand new vent hose (which was not extended) and cap (that functioned as designed).
