It's been a long first day back to work...my guys did an excellent job keeping up with things but still facing a small mountain of issues on the desk..so not a lot of energy left...
Anyhow, back to the trip...arrived at Cherry Hill Saturday afternoon. Get checked in and set-up. Noticed a sign in office that there were two orientation sessions daily regarding getting around DC...one at 4.00 pm and the other at 6.00 pm.
By the time we set up and got the boys some supper we decided to attend the 6.00 pm session. What a nice presentation. Processing it all took a bit of time but after attending the presentation and then reading through the hand outs once we returned to the trailer it all started to make sense.
The easy way to do this is to ride the Metro. It is affordable and works quite well. The campground has a bus stop and is the turnaround point for Bus #83's regular route. Bus # 83 will take you to the College Park Metro Station. From there you get on the Green Line and head for the city.
The Metro runs on a Smart Card system. So does Bus # 83. The campground sells Smart Cards loaded with a $20.00 value for a total fee of $22.00. I bought cards for all four of us, one off - peak trip (Sunday) and then one peak trip (Tuesday) still left a balance of about $2.00 on each card when we left for home. You can recharge them using a credit or debit card at any Metro station or on-line, the campground cannot add value above and beyond the original $20.00.
I strongly recommend the Metro, stops are located very close to any attraction. Leave your vehicle at the campground.
Casa De Wilson all set up...
