Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Fuel Leak and Brake Issue

With all the mods listed below I have achieved my worst fuel mileage and the best.

The worst was with Lance truck camper on and Jeep on Jeep trailer with a slight headwind traveling at 70 mph cuz thats the speed my buddies want to ride at. Most of them have no guages so they are not realizing what they are doing to their fuel mileage. I got 11. 3 mpg on this 300 mile journey.

Just filled my tank after a highway run of 300 miles unloaded last week and recorded 20. 3, running at 60- 65 mph and watching guages to make sure I was in the sweet spot.

All in all I am real happy with this setup. :D

My rig and findings are similar to yours, except I have 90 HP injectors. I've gotten worse mileage towing my 5th wheel, grossing about 17K, but am usually in the low 11s with it. It takes an incredible amount of discipline to drive 300+ miles and 60-65 MPH. I did one 500-mile round trip, just to prove a point, and got 20. 3 MPG. My typical commuting mileage is in the low 19s. I'm pretty happy with that given the capability of the vehicle. Smarty is usually set on 7 or 8.

Every weekend to our place at the lake(250 miles total)average 20-22MPG at 70-75 with Smarty on 7 and Mach 4"s,----Towing the 11000lbs fiver 10-12mpg. DW

I suggest that you take the lead and keep it 60 to 65 mph and tell your friends why. The 11. 3 mpg sounds normal for the load and the speed and the 20. 3 mpg sounds normal for the no-load and 60 to 65 mph.
