If you're a little familiar with vehicle wiring, about $10 spent at Radio Shack and a couple of hours [actually, if you're a tinkerer you can do it in about an hour] time spent under the dash on the driver's side, and you can do the job yourself. After you're through, you flip a hidden switch [or even an exposed, unmarked switch], and even with the keys, you can't start or run the truck. I put one in mine and it's a nice little extra bit of insurance when you walk away from the truck... . either in a shopping center parking lot or in your driveway.

How difficult is it to install the Revelco device ? I looked at there web site only to find pictures of units allready installed.

Input appreciated from anyone who has experience installing one.

It has to be installed by one of their approved dealers. Since I am in Canada they gave me the name of one of their dealers that I could buy it from - about 800 miles away - and I could then have it installed locally by an approved shop, in this case a local Dodge dealer. It's on the wish list. Shadrach

Someone tried to steal my 2006 last night. I am interested in your switch method. On my 99 I installed a switch in place of the clutch jumper (Auto transmission) for a solution. The 2006 does not have this setup.

Input appreciated.

Interested in your remote control starter relay. Where may I find more information on it.

Someone tried to steal my 06 last night.

Input appreciated.

I had mine professionally installed and it took him about 1. 5 hours and he was working fast... . and obviously very experienced. I have been told by others that they have attempted it and had disasterous and frustrating results. You CAN do this yourself if you want as they give you the instructions if you want them. Part of the deal is the way they dovetail their system into the wiring system on the other side of the firewall. If you cut the wrong wire or short the wrong wire you run the risk of causing very expensive damage to your PCM's or worse.
My personal opinion? I would let the professional do it. It is not worth trying to save $75 believe me. I have been very happy with mine.

hello all. I'm new here to the tdr forums and was cruising around and seen this thread.

An easy and inexpensive solution to this problem would be to install a hidden switch in the cab that controls the starter. It is much like the small electronic key fob things that some banks and some dealers install... it is usually at the bottom of the dash right next to the obd plug.

The wire is a small, 16ga or maybe 18... i don't remember... but it is super easy to add a switch to lock this out. Truck won't even crank. Now for hiding the switch... . i have done this in several places that i will not post in public for protection of the customers i have done this for... feel free to pm and i can share more info right down to the wire color you'll be going after and detailed instructions. Anyone with a basic understanding of wiring can do this... . all it is, is a switch, 2 pieces of wire ( i used a conduited wire, looks much cleaner) and a few hand tools!!

And they can't start the truck!!:d

thanks for telling ever one!

I have not done this yet but I have been toying with the idea of installing a magnetic reed switch. This type of a switch will close it's contacts when a magnet is placed over it. mount it under the dash behine your plastic. Then on the front side glue some velcro and attach one of many dodge/cummin do-dad deco items with some button magnets attached to the back side. When you depart your truck remove your velcroed do-dad and the magnetic reed switch will open and the truck will not start. This could be done alone with your other methods as a back up. What ca think??

I think it would work very well. I have pulled a wiring Diag. from my service manual on CD and found a wire that I believe will do the trick. It is the ignition switch output listed as (run-start), circuit F20 20 gauge PK/WT. I know when I removed the fuse # 22 and tried to start the engine it also worked. Looking at the Diag. fuse # 22 is connected to controlling the switch- push- button starter. Trying to find where that wire circuit a106 20 gauge color LB/RD is under the dash is the problem. If anyone has used either wire to install a switch it would sure save lots of time and a few headaches. I found this Info on wiring Diag. 8W-13-14 of my service manual.

Input appreciated.
