Rebel_Horseman, yes, things like that definitely happen! Next time you see an accident on a highway, look at the way emergency vehicles are staggered, sometime across multiple lanes to block traffic. We had an incident about 3 miles outside of our first due area on the PA turn pike a few years ago where a FF was killed by a truck, nothing anyone could have done about that though, it was just a freak accident, now the road gets barricaded. Fire apparatus are usually 35k + pounds, makes a good barrier, saves lives!
