Well I finaly got enough courage to drill 7/16" hole in the exhaust manifold then tapped 1/4" NPT for thermocouple. I pushed the probe in all the way till it hit bottom then backed out about 1/4". Does anyone know if this is in too far, or am I ok? The directions never covered this.
Installed EGT/Boost combo and Trans gauges from Geno's in a dual 'A' piller mount. I used the dip stick transmission mount for know.
Piller mount was an excellent place (very easy to see, and out of the way).
Thanks in advance :)

That's about how I installed mine, I've had the same Geno's stuff you've got for about 2 1/2 years or 80,000 miles now & have no complaints so far. I worried about the probe breaking or burning off & going into the turbo, but removed it twice for an inspection, and it looks fine, not going to worry about it anymore... ... ... DDG

Is the probe sticking all the way across the gas stream? I have the probe tip just barely (1/4") protruding into the gas stream. The tip is where the juction is. It is not like a "bulb-capillary" type teperature sender where you get best results with full immersion. If an inch and one half were in there it would could turbulence in the exaust stream just upstream of the turbine(slight efficiency concern) and may give the gas a way to vibrate the the probe an fatigue it off. There are mechanics and mechanical engineers who post. I hope one of them will disagree with me. Any furthur input????

Thanks for your input Dennis, guess I won't worry.
Peter, The probe is like Dennis's - all the way in then backed up 1/4".
Thanks, wakely
