I'm looking through the IISPRO books at a local diesel shop and trying to make a decision on what guages, faces, sweep ranges, bezel colors to order. The problem comes when looking at the thermocouplers. The books aren't specific to out trucks so picking the right one is critical at this point.

I'm pretty sure to go with a type 'K' , but after that, they divide into temperature ranges, lengths, and silver this and that.

Are the probes adjustable in length? There are 2 that i'm looking at that go from 0"-2. 25" in adjustment. That's alot to stick up off of the manifold and I don't know if i've seen that before or not.

Do any of you gearheads know the #'s of your isspro thermocoupler purchases?

Also, this is a big rig diesel shop and I know the guys there so i'm trying to get a screamin' deal. You should see some of the Pyro's and guages iispro has out. Some are monsters and if I wasn't going with an A pillar tripple pod, I might splatter the dash with several of those bad boys. #ad

Thanks a bunch

Sorry,I just looked up my receipt from DIS and there was no P/N listed for the temp probe, just a "pyro kit". It's been a while since we put it in,but I don't think it was any longer than 2-1/2"... and yes,it is adjustable.

MikeR, thanks. That helps in the confidence department alot when I go back to pick out the probe. I'm having the business ask for a "kit" for a dodge diesel and see what he comes up with.

According to my install instructions, mine is #R650. I don't remember the length but 2. 5" seems about right and it was adjustable. I've got mine mounted in the elbow so not as much sticks out as compared to the manifold but it has not been a problem.

Awesome! That is the one I was looking at in the book. I hope by monday these grease monkeys will have a price for me. Can't wait to bomb the 98' #ad

Heetseeker_1:

I believe you have already had your questioned answered, however, the part number
on my thermocouple is Isspro #R65GAH7PL9940.
I have my thermocouple installed in the manifold and this model thermocouple has a two pin quick connect fitting which fits directly into the wires from the gauge. I ordered mine from "Precision Power Injection"in Kokomo, Indiana #(765)452-7158.
If your buddies at the local diesel shop can't get it for you, try "Precision Power. "
Hope this helps you!

I moved mine from the elbow to the manifold. I had a bunch of thermocouple extended down into the elbow. When I moved it to the manifold, there wasn't as much depth as the elbow, so it wouldn't tighten down. It bottomed out & sticked up too high.

There is a compression fitting that slips up & down the shaft of the thermocouple that 'compresses' once it's tightened. When I moved it to the manifold, I needed to move the compression fitting down on the thermocouple twords the end of the thermocouple. No easy task once it's already been tightened, so if you place it in the elbow, only extend it down 1/2" to 1" or so into the exhaust flow. That way, if you ever move it to the manifold, you won't bugger up the thermocouple sliding the compression fitting.

Thanks guys, i'll make a call on Monday morning and see what kind of prices I can get out of these rednecks. Might have to show up with a 12pack to soften em up a little!

Heetseeker_1; Did you get your gage and thermocouple today? I'm in the market for the same and live just south of you in Manteca.
I downloaded the catalog of ISSPRO Pyrometers and TC's that was on the DIS website. I'd like to know sources in the Sac. area. Nothing down here.

Harold, nope... didn't get them or the prices eigther #ad
. The guys in the shop (only 2) run the counter as well and its more of a mom and pop place. They promised pricing by today and i'll call before noon to get the skinny. I know Acme truck parts in Stocton carries the isspro stuff as well as high flow mufflers too. They said they could get 3-5" adaptors to run 5" or 4" out to the side. I'm still looking at that though. I'll post here again when I know more.

Later, Steve.

Harold.

Here's the nuts and bolts of it.

I compared TST's guages and the 'good ol boys' and TST has the better price by about 20 bucks-not counting shipping. I'll probably go with the local ma+pa shop to support my community (bla, bla, bla) and it's close to me if some of the fittings aren't right. TST sells their guages separate or in kit form and claim it will fit your truck perfectly-I belive them and Mark has e-mailed me on several occaisions about power kits and guage questions that I have had in the past.

You can e-mail me any time and i'll contact you by phone if you want to visit their shop(wegat's truck repair) or call them @ 209-334-1744 and talk to Jeff or Howard. They only have limited stuff on hand, but if you order on a Wed, they get delivery on the next day. (Thurs. is delivery day for them)

I'm not in too big of a hurry to buy the guages just yet, as i'm trying to finish my shop and fencing in a couple more pastures.

Later, Steve.

Pius at Bell turbo is helping me out with my thermocouple, he wants to see my new SPA guage next Wed it will be done, try the autometers, Bell turbo has been alot of help for me guys, Ebarchuck@msn.com for more info 01 ETH

Steve;
Went up to Sac. today and cruised the ISSPRO distributer and a couple of dealers.
Talked to Chuck at Commercial Speedometer Service. He has ISSPRO, VDO & Stewart Warner. He answered a lot of questions. They have good prices and can dropship with a CC order.
IF you want some prices or more info. email me at hupdike@jps.net.
