My Autometer Pyro gauge will work fine for long periods and then will start fluctuating wildly. It has done this since brand new. It acts like it is losing it's ground. I have checked all the wiring twice and it seems to be fine. Does this sound like a t-couple prob or a gauge prob. Are t-couples in this heat range generic? I would like to change the gauge out to a Pricol. If my t-couple is good can I replace just the gauge? Thanks.

Most, and probably all, EGT gauges use type K thermocouples. If you can see the individual wires and they are yellow and red, then you TC is standard type K.

if its erratic Id replace the thermocouple and go from there, mine did the same and if you would get on the throttle it would go down instead of up, it would also go out of control!!! replaced the thermocouple and all is well!
