Has anyone tried the NAPA cooling t-stat. Mine's been running hot in the mtns. I got the NAPA stat yesterday and put my old one and the new one on the stove. The NAPA has a much smaller port but opened farther than the old D/C stat. The old stat stuck open, so I know it's definately screwed up. Now I'm thinking the old one got a wear pattern from the usual cycling and was limited to that pattern - won't open any farther when needed. I'm skeptical about the small NAPA stat. Anyone know if it's adequate? TIA, Craig

C Schomer, one more thing, if your not happy with that napa thermostat, i have heard that the cummins thermostat does not cycle like the d/c does. im not sure what the part number is, and im almost postive someone will bust in here and provide that info for ya.

Thanks, I might as well leave it in and see how it does in the mtns. this weekend. I'll take it back and get the Cummins if necessary. I figured the napa (with the smaller port) should be more stable than the D/C (05014568AA) that I took out. Hunting is a common problem with oversized (modulating) valves. Craig

When I got my truck 2 years ago I saw the temps cycling and figured its a bad t stat so off to napa and same deal cycling 150 to 190. So I found about the cummins NEW and improved t stat for 25. 00 . so in it goes and same thing I think they all cycle and I have become used to it. Worse in cold weather. Save your time and money and keep the napa one.

Yeh! It won't bother me if it cycles - been doing that for 7 yrs. I'm only worried about the max flow rate. The Cv of the napa can't even be close to the D/C. I'll let ya all know tues. Thanks for the replies! Craig
