Thermostat Part numbers?? Which One????

Looking to replace thermostat, but I need to know the correct part number before I order it from Cummins.



One part number is 393-5811, this was taken from a post a few months ago.



Another part number is 393-4373, this one is from Geno's.

Which One?????



My truck is 2000 as per signature.

Engine number

Max,

Cummins will want your engine number and they will give you the correct thermostat. That number is on the engine right below the front of the injector pump. We just bought two for '98. 5's. They cost us $20 each.

Thermostat failure

I have 3500/4x4/98. 5/that is fairly well boomed. I was returning home from a 4500 mile trip pulling my 13k fifth wheel. Luckly the thermostat failed 10 miles from home. It was an instant failure, one minute normal, next bells, check gages, and gage pegged. I ordered part from dealer, of course it is not in stock and I am not sure I will get the right 180 degree thermostat. Part no. would be helpful if anyone has ordered one lately.



Also, should I keep a spare on hand, this is second replacement?

Truck has 45k miles on it...
