Trailered the wife's truck home (again), this time it apppears to be the thermostat. Gauge pegged on the high side and wife shut it down, and called me. Looking at it with a flashlight, all I need to do is remove top hose, and 3 bolts holding the housing to the head and I am at the thermostat. Is this correct, or am I missing something. Need to fix before noon Tuesday (2-11). Thanks.

I had already replaced my thermostat, adn had to remove alternator bracket. The 2000 looks much more simple to change.

That TSB says it covers up to 01's but on my 01 all I had to remove was three small bolts and housing came off. Pull the old one out, put the new one in and reinstall. I did it when I drained the entire system but if you don't mind spilling a little coolant I don't see why you could not do it with out draining at all. Maybe just pinch the hose with a big vise grip.

I put a 180 degree t-stat in to see if it would help with mileage, no change.
