*NO DEAL* *NO RAM*

Well this is all a mute point.

* * DEAL IS OFF * *

Dealer really screwed up today. Doesn't look like I'm joining the ranks of '03 owners anytime soon

Boy they must of did the big screw up:eek: Tell them :-{} to get you another one or go somewhere else. Now come on Vaughan you got to tell us.

When I ordered the truck the dealer said they'd give me $19,500 for mine. Well yesterday my $19,500 suddenly depreciated by $5500 in 5 weeks    $14,000 for my truck? Gimme a break!

I took my keys and marched outa there. The only good news is I get my deposit back.

Wow!

This is why the "S" word has been sometimes used in the past!

My '01 (much like yours but 4x4) was a $23,000 trade-in in December, but I sold it to a friend for $24K. Seems like they were trying to get 2004 model depreciation on the deal!

Hope you can find another more up-right dealer and still move on to the 3rd G experience.

Vaughn... man I'm sorry for ya.....

shall we [all the NW guys and some Utah ones also] come up and put some great smoke clouds on'em LOL

Sounds like a trip to Kellog is in order

That just plain stinks. Hopefully you'll be joining us soon though. Maybe you should try buying "off the rack".

By the way, there's nothing wrong with calling dealers like that thieves, rats, goat smelling pukes or anything else is there?

I guess we can call the low-lifes, others, but NOT the "S" word.

Not that the *ealer did anything wrong here, I would have had them put in writing the offer. What if (and we know this has happened) they offered me 15k for mine but we wait for build. Gots in writing, with only one stipulation, the offer but if I wreck it or have damages not included in first offer then we re-negoiate price. Otherwise I get 15k even if its 3 months down the road.

Vaughn trusted the *ealer and they stuck-it-2 him. Now my trust would probably have been the same (it was before with my dealer and until they pull something like this, will be) with this *ealer. The gud side is they gave deposit back. Still have a few days left to order a 03 or now you could wait for an 04 (rebates now or ?? ltr). I had to put a 100$ on mine to "protect" the rebates and was happy to (used a CC to protect me). Vaughn, Ifn I was u (and I isnt), find another and reorder - MAKE SURE THE FOGS are INCLUDED ;) ...

Gud luk and let the "bozs" come up and smoke-em!!!!:D :D :D

hehehe Gary. . . that kinda happened this morning. My coworker who's a bit of a hothead and who was with me when I placed the order, and was thinking of a new truck himself, went with me this morning to pay a visit to this dealer.

He really laid into the salesman and made quite a scene. It was really good. The manager came crusing right out there and whisked us off to the office and we proceeded to have a lengthy and rather heated conversation. We made a real fuss, don't like being lied to, this is crap, unacceptible, I was baited, where's the paperwork, hmm can't seem to find it, etc. etc. The manager was defending the guy (who for the most part had treated me well). My salesman was appologing saying it was an honest mistake and a misunderstanding between him and the manager on quoting the $19,500. Whatever. After awhile we chilled and BSed for awhile but bottom line it wasn't possible to make a deal and the bridge is burned.

At this point I am checking with a couple other dealerships. They are also saying $14-$15K range for my trade. Maybe that's all I can expect. I've tried sellling outright in the $18K range without much luck.

I did want to add that I drove the truck yesterday and OH BABY!

Real nice, smooth, no driveline/engine vibes whatsoever up to 75mph, very little engine vibes in steering wheel driving around town. Taupe leather seats in a Pat. Blue truck :D Shifted way smooth. Engine very smooth. Did I say this was a smooth ride?? Other than a miniscule not 100. 000% perfectly aligned bed (easy fix) this truck is pretty flawless (except missing fog lights  )

The latest dealer I've been working with is going to see if they can bring it over on a "vehicle locate" free of charge. Guys, cross your fingers for me ;)

I am also sorry to hear about the problems you are having, I can also say that it is totally unacceptable:mad:  all I can say that if it was a mistake why did they not find it before the truck came in? and with (wrong equipment), but the fog lights could have been a honest mistake, People make mistakes. That is the reason I give a copy invoice of the ordered truck with all equipment at time of the order and ask the customer to make sure it is right while I can still make the changes. That is water under the bridge now. Any assistance I can give I will be happy to help. It's easy to see how some Dealers get the Ste***r label.

Just be sure there are still some honest sincere dealers.

Vaughan, we are pulling for you (pun intended!). :D

And George, appreciate your post. Am friends with two dealer/owners down here and would like to think neither of them would lose business this way. Your original dealer's sales manager was evidently not looking at the long-term PR, or just bottom-line oriented. Did the owner know and approve of their turning down business?

Anyway, Good Luck!

The good news is there ARE good, honest dealers out there. It's too bad the unscrupulous ones continue to perpetuate the negative stereotypes that honest dealerships must battle against.

I know times are tough for everyone, even for those in the vehicle retail business. Sales folks have the right to make a buck & support a family like everyone else. It's a two-way street, but it's prbably greed or poor management (desperate for profits) is behind the questionable and unethical tactics that occur on the sales floor.

It's great to have a lot of understanding friends on TDR. You guys are the best
