O-Ring Problem

Dezul1, milling the head doesn't change compression like a gas motor. Our heads are flat and gassers have a combustion chamber. Our pistons are where the combustion chamber is on our motors. The head is flat when stock and still flat after the milling is done. No change in compression.

HeberRam, Gary did your head as I recall. He used JB weld to fill the mistakes:)

Snow Man says:

"BTW the tool they used sounds exactly like the one Nowel uses"

That is my O-ring tool. It was the first one of it's kind. It's co-owned by a friend on the east coast who let's Doug and Andy use it. I'm hoping A & D will purchase one of their own from me soon;)

Thanks for the info, always good to learn more about these trucks. I wasnt paying attention to the pic like I should have.

The way we do our O-ring in the head it sits on the fire ring around the cylinder and crushes into once you torque it the right way, doing this helps seal the cylinder off allowing for higher boost applications or in single turbo's higher back pressure before it lifts, when my stock gasket gave way it spit air about 1/2 inch over to the water port and pressurized the radiator.

OK The guy told me to go and have sex by my self! He says that there is no reason why that head won't work perfect. I also measured the head thickness and if 30 thous was cut off it would put it right at min spec, so I could never use the head again if I had to surface it again. I told him this and he said that there are no specs for hot rods. I'm still confused about that one?

I have a packet coming from the court house, looks like small claims it is.

I also though about calling the local news, they have a story on there each night called "problem solvers", and they talk to the people doing bad business and try to get them to do right by threating them with public humiliation (Sp?)

I dunno if I should do this or not, whats your guys take.

I was just wanting the work to get out on this guy locally.

Also A former co-worker sent a cyl head to this fella a week before I got mine back to have valve guides changed.

When he got the head back all of the guides were installed at different heights. He went to press them all in right and one of them fell out. (They had to drill them out) The hole was drilled crooked and they just stuck the guide in there.

Talk about quality.

This one needs to be made an example of with as much publicity as possible. Maybe these types will think twice before giving out an inferior service, product, etc.

Go to the news paper, maybe it will keep this from happening to somebody else and then to court, this is bad stuff.

You might want to go to your local Better Business Bureau first. Since you have already tried to deal with this person , they can attemp a mediation. I believe they also keep a public record of complaints against business's. The link below will put you on their track.

NEW HEAD HE CAN IT EAT THE ONE HE ****** UP DONT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THAT CRAP!!!!..... PLEASE KEEP US INFORMED ON WHAT'S GOING ON... ... .

Adam,

Who did the work so that I am sure to not ever take my stuff to him? And I will do my part to let the rest of the KC area (out south) know so that they don't use them either. Call channel 4 and let them make a fool out of him on the news for a week.

Your head is ruined!

Take him to small claims.

If you are looking for a reliable and fairly priced shop, I would suggest Haisleys.

I have had 2 heads O ringed and decked there, both jobs were perfect.

Adam, that stinks... . they definitely should make it right... We have our own version of Nowel's o-ringing tool(hee hee, :D yeah, his tool really gets around) that we bought from him sometime ago, it works like a charm. We've done quite a few blocks with it (we prefer doing the blocks for several valid reasons) and they are all holding quite a few psi :D of boost.

If the head is salvageable, if the cuts are not too deep(they might be) you could consider doing the block and installing the head after having it milled flat. Get it done at a better machine shop, of course! Like the other guys said, valve & injector depth would have to be watched closely, and compensated for.

Documentation and keeping your paper work and notes in order are a must. Keep notes with dates, places, names etc. about anything to do with this issue. The more organized you are, the more respect you will get in a court. To us it looks like an open and shut case, but we know what your talking about, in court you will have to educate people, be prepared. You did not get what you ordered or paid for, so they must remedy it. This is an item that can only be remedied by replacement. As mentioned before maybe you could plane it done the 30" but you would never be able to do it again. If you want some satisfaction in the mean time, make a wearable sign board and higher a min wager and have him walk the sidewalk infront of this place for a day or two. (give him a video camera just incase he gets hasseled)?
