Competition 136-psi

Competition 10.60 CR dodge

local county fair had a diesel truck pull a couple of weeks ago ... 8000 lb open street diesel ...

a good friend was going to pull his third gen and my brother in law was going to pull his first gen ...

so i figured what the heck, i'll throw in a second gen just so the three of us will have something to argue about later:-laf

when i got there both my friend and brother in law called and told me they had problems and couldn't pull ...

i had a good freind and my eight year old with me and just smiled and figured that even though i wasn't gonna pull i'd at least have close parking ...

as we were pulling up we saw them pulling a powerstroke off a trailer ... large, well made crossbrace under the bumper to hang weights ...

i pulled up and parked as the officials told him "this is a street class, you can't hang weights on the front" ... after some arguing they did let him put them in the cab:rolleyes:

so as we walk around the back of the truck to get our chairs out we hear one of the competitors bragging up his duramax, good looking truck with sooty stacks and brand new all terrains (i noticed those because all i have is a set of mastercraft highway tread and open front and rear ends), he was telling a few of the other competitors about his beefed up front end, 7k$ suncoast allison and how "stacking" was the way to make power ...

my buddy chuckles and says "don't worry about it let's go get some good seats ...

then i hear it ...

"yeah those cummins' make good work trucks but if you wanna make any REAL power everyone knows your only choice is a DURAMAX"

my friend (who owns a '07 F450 'stroke) and 8 year old both give me that :p look ...

one hour later i had won by a good 10 or 15 feet ...

i was to excited to hear anything the announcer said ... just kept staring at the leaders cone ...

may have only been eight other trucks but it was in front of the hometown crowd Oo.

lowrange ... Drive ... 15 lbs of boost ...

Thanks DTT ... you've almost made me like automatics;)

CoWorker: Man there's no way your Honda Odyseey MiniVan is FASTER than my new Nissan Titan... .

Me: Tonight is test n tune at the track... let's line 'em up...

1/8 mi.

My time: 11. 2263

His time: 11. 3640

LOL.

Man that was FUN!

The first time that I ever pulled was Fayette county fair in 2004. Decided to pull at the last minute because my brother & my friends were there. They were saying "Just pull", "oh are you scared the Powerjokes will out pull you?", "I knew that your truck was purple because you are a sissy". Thats it! I am pulling & I don't care if I do have a stock clutch & turbo. I got 3rd place! 286ft. Only got beat by 2 Dodges that were tuned up. I went up to my friends & said "Its not purple, its blue --------!

It hasn't happened yet, however, at the Mason Dixon drag event my wife, in an effort to get me to run, uttered these soon to be "famous last words".

"Why do you do all that stuff to your truck if you're not going to do anything with it?"

Those words are now my inspiration to take the necessary steps (read spend money. . :p) to feel comfortable running down the track or hookin to a sled.

I'm usually the one that gets my buddies to hook up... ... ... I will never forget the one that said "You didn't tell me the sled was going to be that @##%% heavy!!!" I swear everybody thinks that sled should just pull like a boat on a trailer.

Last night talking with a friend, I asked him about his puller, to see if he had made any changes in the last few weeks. "No you don't have to worry Michael, I'll still be 50 feet behind you... "

Michael

"Hold my beer, and watch this!":-laf:-laf:-laf

Actually, I got that from Idaho ATVer's. A federal study showed that in most fatal ATV accidents, the last words from the victim were "oh s#*t", except in Idaho, "Hold my beer, and watch this"!

I've never had to be convinced... .

Although we did have to calm my date down... .
It was our 2nd or 3rd date. She had never been to a pull... . I decided to pull... . and broke the front drive shaft. When everyone heard the bang, she lookd at a couple friends of mine and said "Should I be trying to find a ride home?"

When I drove off the track, they told her... . "I doubt it, but you can ask Josh. "
