We went camping with some friends on a dry lake playa this weekend. They've been going there for years. This has been there for about 10 years. Yes, it's a whole cow, or what's left of one. There is another one a few miles down the playa.

Wanna see some strange stuff, go up to " Black Rock City", for the Burning Man "Festival coming up next week. I made a delivery up there Sunday of some steel forms for some coliseum thingie a majigger. Very friendly folk up there though as evidenced by the lil' thing that "greeted" me at the gate!! :-laf :--) But man is that playa dust hard to wash off your truck!!

And your trailer, your dog, you, your kids, etc! I can't imagine being in the Black Rock with 29,999 of your best friends kicking that stuff all over. Becomes the 4th largest city in Nevada for a week.

He's not here - I guess they didn't find him on that farm in Michigan they were looking under? My personal theory is they'll find him in about 50 years when they tear down the Meadowlands.

Well, I have not been on the Black Rock Desert during the dry times, but we went riding one winter, got out of the trailer at the highway, rode a couple of hours and when we got back the horses were 6 inches taller.

Well, I'll be leaving this glittery heck hole I call home for the playa later tonight. Have to pick up what is left of what I took up there 2 weeks ago, AMink, where is the closest truck wash to Reno you know of? Might be up there around lunch time if you want to meet up someplace that my 70' long rig can fit into ! :-laf

If you're coming up through Fernley, then Wadsworth, then the Blackrock, there are a couple of truckstops in Fernley. The one on the east end has a wash. If you come up 395, there is one in East Sparks that I think has a wash. Have fun! You'll have dust where you didn't know you could put it!

I know, the stuff is still coming out of who knows where from the trip 2 weeks ago, (1200 miles ago)! Probably keep an eye out for the one in Sparks, need the wash AFTER I come out of there headed west!

Which way are you coming out of the Black Rock? I'm guessing you'll be coming down through Wadsworth to I80? If you're heading west, it's only about 10 or 15 miles to Sparks. If you take the first exit (Vista) and turn left, there is a truck stop there. If you go another mile or so to the McCarren exit, you'll see a big 76 stop there.
