I think I've been through about 6 shear bolts/pins on this machine so far... unreal.
There was a change around '04 to move from the bigger shear bolts to the smaller 1/4" size shear pins. Every time I've gone to TSC, they're always out of the newer shear pins... and fully stocked on the "pre '04" shear bolts. Hrmmm...
They're cheating on the auger gearbox and effectively making up for the smaller/weaker units by using smaller shear bolts/pins. Nice.
Problem solved - just install grade 2 1/4"-20 bolts (1. 5" length works perfect).
You can buy 5 bolts with 5 nuts for about $0. 18
They do stick a bit more in the holes than regular shear bolts or shear pins, but at the rate I'm going through them - I can deal.
