Changing a flat tire with a camper on

getting ready for the Cummins plant tour

By any chance, do you have a generator in the front bay? Washer/dryer in the bedroom closet?

The 20% is usually pretty close, but on some of the full-time rigs with lots of accessories up front or "stuff" in the basement, they can get heavy on the pin.

Sorry slow on the reply!

No generator and no W/D.

The wife makes jewelry and I have tools and a lot of other stuff, all heavy. 4,500# pin weight is a lot but the truck handles it with ease!

ok. . did a walk thru on the Jayco, WOW!!!. . We absolutely love it... . its gotta be a dually to do it safely. . but we are thinking this may be too much camper for weekenders like us. . Thanks to everyone for their input. .
Harvey, I read somewhere that NuWa is yet another victim of a dying economy... ?? Hate to hear when good companies lose out to lesser companies with better "window dressing"... There is an RV dealer about an hour from here with a big lot full of RVs and so many brands you cant keep up with them all... ... I know of several people who have purchased from them, yet all of them have buyers remorse over their purchase... From defective/substandard manufacturing to non-existent customer service at the dealership level... They have all ended up with their campers at the Jayco dealership where I purchased mine paying for repairs that should be manufacturers warranty...
No doubt, Jayco and my selling dealer have made several new future customers...

Wingate,

Yeah, I suspect NuWa has closed its production doors for the last time now. When a friend and I were at the factory in Chanute about three months ago for him to buy a nice used '06 HitchHiker Premier I asked (in private) one of the regional sales reps who I know fairly well if they had stopped production to wait out the final days of nobama. He laughed angrily and agreed. At the time most of us thought we would soon see the last of nobama. I haven't communicated with them since but I don't think they'll reopen. HitchHikers are too expensive to build for the mass market. All the top brands began dying off as soon as the destruction of our economy began with the November '06 election. I am saddened by this but it is a simple economic reality.

Mike Mitchell owns NuWa. His grandfather started the company and he worked there as a kid before he went off to college. He has deep roots in Chanute, KS. His employees are his neighbors, classmates, friends, and relatives. He has done the best he could keeping it going. He will keep the service and parts departments open at least for the next few years. My HitchHiker has never been serviced anywhere but at the factory in Chanute.

If I were looking for a good late model fifthwheel I would strongly consider the used inventory on NuWa's website. My friend lives in his fulltime and is very pleased with it. There are models to buy and models to ignore among the used. I will give honest advice to anyone who asks. I was fortunate to have Bill Stockard to advise me when I started looking for a new fiver in late '06.
