Should I buy a 2012 or wait for the 2013?

I have 4WD for the slick boat ramps, otherwise I would have bought a 2WD truck. For the 90% of the time I'm not towing I was never really comfortable driving the dually, I do miss it a little when I tow. I drive my single rear wheel truck much more than I ever drove the dually. I'll let you know if I made the right choice on the single rear wheel truck after my trip to the Rockies this spring with the 5th wheel.

... hence my comment about putting 1000 lbs in the back. And, also that comment was directed toward winter and snow, although I failed to mention it. We've just received another snowstorm and that was what was on my mind when I wrote that. Personally, I would get 4WD unless I knew I wouldn't be taking that truck off the road. That being said, the front suspension is much more comfortable than the solid axle 4WD front end.

Just options for the OP to consider, that's all...
A 1000 lbs in the back of that Ford, would not have helped at all, just get me stuck in the rear too, i had to have a wrecker to get on pavement and winch me out, that's how heavy that Fords front end was, just for clarity,Monte

Just for clarity on my part, I did say I would get 4WD unless I knew I wouldn't be taking the truck off-road. You said you needed a wrecker to get back "on pavement". I also said the 1000 lbs of added weight for traction was for snow traction.

Just trying to be clear. .

No problem,Monte

RVPoser,

Does that look like a Dodge Ram to you? Of course freightliners offered Allison transmissions behind a Cummin engine. So what?

But only one bs artist on TDR has ever claimed he or his buddy has one in a Ram. He has yet to provide the photos a couple of TDR members (not myself) asked him for.
You know what AND where you can stick it, You think your as old as Methusala and wiser than Soloman

Thank you for the nice compliments. Actually I'm not either but I am old enough and wise enough to recognize a bs artist when I see one - as several other members clearly were also.

Did someone say something, I thought I heard a coward?

Chiming in here for the SRW. . I have a heavy 36' 5th. 15K total and the tires I use are 225/70R 19. 5" "G" rated 14 ply. 4050# @110 psi I have used this setup towing my 5th for 7 yrs. never feels scary on curves or anything. I had a 2001 before my current 3500 and did this same thing...

NOW, I will say that if you have a heavy camper. . top heavy and tippy, yes, a DRW is the way to go. . I have airbags on my truck as a helper to level when hooked to the trailer. . not much. . The only thing I am missing on this truck is the rear Sway bar. . Ram in their decision, left it off. . ???? . . oh well. . I am looking at getting the 2013 maybe when the 14's come out. Love all the new gadgets on them.
