Someone thinks he has a hot mini-van

Tennessee Drivers

alright guys, I was hoping that I might be able to get some advice here. I'm thinkin about adding the Banks Power Pack to the truck. But I wanted to check with yall and see if that is something that is worth the money. Its quite a bit of cash and I want to be sure that I am going to be satisfied with the results. I also am worried that with all that power that it might shorten the life span of the truck. When I called, they assured me that it would not, but hey, there tryin to sell it to me. Any thoughts on this subject? Are there any other products that are better to go with? Has anybody installed this themselves, or it something that is best left to the pros. I share the same sentiments with everyone else here that I dont want anyone else touchin her, kinda like loanin out yur girlfriend to a stranger! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You will find lots of people om this site swear by Banks, others think it is a waste of money. I will say that Banks has been around a long time.

My best advice to you is to do some more reading/studying on the different products available, and then choose what suits YOUR needs the closest.

I think being a bit leery of what any salesman tells you is a good thing.

Don't forget to search for, and study, Ted Jannetty's post on the Proper Order of Upgrades. I believe it to be one of the best posts I have seen on this site.

Much as I hate to say it, I totally agree with Rob:D:D (just kidding Rob). Ted put out a list over a year ago that has pretty much become the standard by which most of us look at our trucks and what we need to do to them... ... ... ... ... . Pete

I got the Banks "Git Kit" It did increase power but ceartanly not a thousand dollars worth. I realy wish I had gone with an EZ or the like. A lot cheaper and an easy install.

CMoursund, just to summarize what I've read here over the past year regarding Banks products:

1) They are solid products that are;

2) Overpriced, backed by;

3) Poor customer service, even to their own dealers, and;

4) Their performance can easily be exceeded, for less money, and better service.

Now although I've not used their product personally, I steared away from them. You won't find too many more strongly worded posts of dissatisfaction than for Banks' customer service.

Just my 2 cents :)

BTW, here's the link to T. Jannetty's BOMBing advice: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9797&highlight=proper+order

I'm chiming in with the rest. Before I did anything I read this board for 3 months and asked a lot of questions. There are lot of vendors that I called to get opinions. I emailed lots of folks on this board. I went from not knowing anything to having a clue... not much of one, but I did have one.

I've read a good many posts about Banks. I have no experience with them. I will say, from what I read most feel they pay too much for the improvement they get. Again, I have no experience with Banks.

I think the guages and K&N should come first. Oops, just read Ted's post again. Same thing. I talked to him too. He really knows his stuff!

Hope this helps.

I forgot to mention that instead of seeing the 5 percent increase in mileage that banks advertises, I am seeing a 7 percent decrease.

It was an easy install though. I just gave a guy $125. (He earned it)

I ordered the powerpack from banks for my 01 eth. I replaced the ottomind with a VA, PS boost module , and the guages were swapped out for autometer. There exhaust is stainless and made really nice. I feel there costomer service was terrible. I had a few problems with the ottomind and I could never get through to the service tech's. I then went to see Ted Jannetty at Jannetty Racing and his shop is an A+. He was a great guy to deal with, he even gave me a ride in his 14 second dually.

Gave you a ride???

Heck you go see John (Moparmuscle) at Scott (Massdiesel) and Johns place and John will let you drive his low 14 second (in street balding tires) truck... ... Of course you'll have to wait for him to get there... .

Always late but never forgotten.....
