Thanks, TDR Staff

It only took 3 tries for the dealer to rotate my tires!

I read a post about the third brake light leaking water. Did a search and got 11 pages of lots of info, but could not find the one concerning this. I have a small amount of water under the rear seat on the drivers side after a rain or going through the car wash. I can't find any water coming under the rear window. How would you suggest I reseal around the brake light. Hesitate taking it to the dealer, probably have more problems than I have now!! Thanks for any advice.

If it were me, I'd remove the lens, put a small bead of silicone around the edge, let it dry for 24 hours, then re-install. I'd try to keep the bead as smooth as possible.

But keep in mind that water travels really well. What seems like a 3rd brakelight leak could be coming from elsewhere... like a cab clearance light (do you have those?). I might suggest pulling the headliner to see if you can trace where it's coming from. Perhaps pull the headliner and leave it off until it rains or you go to the carwash again to be sure you can verify where the water's coming from.

Ryan,

No clearance lights, I will try the silicone bead and see if that works. It seems easy enough to do. I want to order a billet cover for this light from Geno's anyway.

Thanks for your help.

I used some thin weather stripping to seal the light. It stopped the leak and it is still easily removeable for changing burned out lights.
