Has anyone else noticed the area on the rear of the front fenders at the bottom that collects sand? It would seem like a really bad design that will trap moisture with the sand, I am thinking about drilling a hole in the bottom to help it drain out, it is not easy to clean either, the sand in the pictures is over 1" thick.

Yea, I have leaves and crude in there everytime I look. Seems to be spots on every truck I have ever had that collected crude sort of the same way. It definately will lead to rust and worst if not constantly kept clean.

I cleaned out that spot last year and put a couple paint coats of that tan rust proofing

over the area, since I can get to the area with a p-washer I can blow off the rust

proofing and recoat if needed.

I got a couple of quart cans of the stuff, I brought in 2 empty cans to a rust-proofing

shop and bought the tan and the tar black from his 30 gal drums. Just cost a few dollars to get it, but is real nice to have for spot seal ups and to coat the holes you

drill before you grommet them, etc... .....

I use a soft, long bristle hand-broom to brush out that area and inside and around door gaskets. With so many threads complaining about leaks, I do what I can to keep the waterways free flowing. I still can't figure out how these pine needles get in the places they do. Speaking of which, I still can't find the front shaft's needle fitting.
