The mods in my signature have been done for quite a while, and the performance of the truck is amazing compared to stock. Driving the truck with the throttle pegged and no cargo or trailer in tow, the egts would hit 1250, maybe 1300, and only for a few seconds. This past week I drove the truck every day and noticed that if I bury the throttle, the egts peg the gauge and stay there longer than they ever have. The truck's performance feels no better or worse, and I don't notice any problems, but it never has done this before, so do you folks have any idea what could be going on, or what I can check out?

Thanks!

Given that everything seems to be normal and the same as it was prior to seeing the change in the reading, I'd look hard at the EGT probe. Pull it and try another one.

Any boost change. . ???? You don't mention if you have more/different smoke either... has that changed??

If so go looking for a boost leak, maybe a blown boot/clamp. . perhaps a new hole in the IC... .

The most common reason for your symptoms are boost loss... and yes, it can be a badly plugged filter that contributes to this but not overnight sort of thing...

pb...

FWIW

I "tried" to plug an air filter simply by wrapping the element with duct tape for a test on filter plugging symptoms. I had to have the element about 90 % concieled in tape before a performance loss was noticed. I did not however, use a dyno and computer to calculate my findings so take it for what it's worth.

Bush,

Smoke is the same and boost is 32 psi, just as it has been all along. IC? What's that? The only IC I have is in the attic, waiting for me to change core supports ;)

I'll take the air cleaner off and run it around the block this weekend. If that doesn't help, I'll pull the probe, although I'm not sure what a bad one looks like...

Thanks everybody!

Have you changed where you buy your fuel????? or perhaps the place you are buying it is using a different supplier now... ... . Some fuel will give you more power ,higher egt's and better fuel economy than other fuel... Just fill up one time with kerosene and see how much power you loose...

Another thing to check is the brakes... If one is draging it will cause the egt's to go up... . If you still have the plastic pistons in the front calip's change them to the steel pistons!!!!!

Another thing to check is the rear tires... If one of your dual tires goes very low on air it will create a serious drag... .

The more drag or load + more egt's The better the fuel+ more egt's... .

Not a believer ... . Just pour a few gallons of ATF in your tank... . Hold on to your hat then... .

If you are truly turning 32 psi of boost you are at the breaking point for the engine... ... . egt't are going to be high when you put a load on it.
