This can't be right!

I just picked up another 91 W250, 5spd man & 3:54 gears. Bought it up in WA State and drove it home (AZ) over the weekend (1600 miles)... .



This truck's speedometer shows that it will run 5 - 10 MPH faster top end than my other trucks of similar vintage & diff ratio..... anyone out there with a similar set-up have an accurate top end speed? (my 90 W250 with similar equip tops out at 76 mph)

I just took out our work truck for a little spin . It's a 93 W350 single wheel with 5 speed and 3. 54s. It'll do 87 mph according to the speedo which seems to be correct and the truck is 100% stock.

It's entirely possible that the high idle (governor screw) is set slightly different... that will result in a variation of MPH.

My 91 (5spd, 354 ratio) would do almost 95 when it was stock.

(it does a little more now)

my 92 would hit 90 stock with a 5 speed, 3. 54s and 285s on it

Mine will do 85mph in 5th; 80 was stock top end. Mom's did 98 on the flat once upon a time- stock with 3. 54s and auto/ OD. I see no reason not to be able to run 90+ stock with 3. 54s regardless of transmission, as long as you have OD.



You guys with slower trucks- check to see you are getting full travel with your throttle rod/ acc cable.
