He's on his 3rd one. I don't want to start a war or anything here. I just thought it was funny that everything but the 2nd sentence sounds like a brochure. 2nd sentence sounds like real life.



"You gonna luv it! I've had three and Ford bought back my first one and my second one had a new transmission at 34K. Current one is 2005 and I luv the new front suspension and engine/transmission combo. Superduty is the toughest, haulingest, bestest real truck around. They are pushed to the limit every day by a whole lot of people. Just look around some time at what truck pulls those 18K+ fifth wheel RVs, cattle haulers, car haulers, etc. Ain't a lot of Chevy or Dodges doing it cause they can't or break when they try.



Ford has worked hard to produce a truck that will deliver what they promise. The new diesel/transmission meets the tough emmision standards and produces torque and horsepower adequate for the job. Push it to the limit every day and problems may pop up. Add on performance enhancers like tuners and push it to places where Ford says it should not go and you will have problems. These are the guys you hear form most often. But God bless 'em cause they are pushing Ford to find and fix fix the weak links and up the torque and horsepower ratings for the engine.

Ya know, I can see where ford people get blinded by the problems these trucks have. If you have ever driven one of the new 2005's then you would understand as well. They are really nice trucks both inside and out (interior and power). Ford put a very nice package together, and Dodge just doesn't offer anything close to that right now (can't wait til 07!!! Oo. )

My girlfriend has an 05 4x4 crew cab dually. The truck has 6000 miles on it and is in the shop for the second time already (transmission). Also the serpentine belt snapped on it. In my opinion these trucks are junk under the hood (reliability and longevity) but the rest of the package shines so much, a lot of people are willing to live with a buy-back or two and a half dozen trips to the dealership.

That is so pathetic. I guess if I was driving a 6. 0 that actually ran, after owning 2 that didn't, I would be ecstatic also!



So sad, so rediculous...



And I agree about the rest of the truck. It is one stout vehicle. BUT, I would rather have a reliable workhorse in a Dodge, than a 6 liter in a Ford. No matter how nice the truck is, a dead transmission or 6. 0 will leave you stranded. When is the last time a Dodge's chipping paint, or otherwise bad bodywork left anyone walking home?



Oh, I have a question. Do Ford's heating/air conditioning work with the engine turned off? If so, would be good for the owners to sleep in til the tow truck comes. Wouldn't want anyone to overheat or freeze to death.

Well===I gotta admit I used to be a ford truck fanatic, but in retrospect the last one I owned---I kept for about 3 years longer than I should have just so I'd have something to do in mt spare time!!!

to each his own. I test drove the 05 Ford, GM and Dodge 1ton dually TD trucks. I was a log-term Ford owner until I realized I was paying for each truck I bought about twice due to repairs. My first Dodge was a 96 Ram1500 Sport QC. I drove it 120k+ miles without anything like the problems I had with Fords. Anyway, after I finished my test drives with all three of these, the Dodge was my choice based on interior, least noise, most economy and past experience.

I bought a 2000 excursion because the fords are so nice and roomy. i figured i could live with the second most powerful diesel and the best truck IMO. but after that POS left my family and i stranded TWICE due to a $120 sensor failing, it was traded on that next monday for a huge loss. i took the $9k hit in the shorts and now know my truck wont be leaving me anywhere but out in front of the fords that are still running.



I was filling up yesterday and one of those fancy crew cab fords was next to me. I didnt say a thing. the guy first asked me what my mileage was. I told him 19 empty and 12-14 towing. he says "i get 17 and 9" I already knew that because i had one. but he then goes to tell me he's got bigger exhuast that helps too. i said "yep, mine has 5inch out of the bigger turbo and then all the way back. he replies "i have 350 horse power with this one" I replied "mine was built for 550 with the twins but think its only around 525" he ended the conversation with his blank stare as he slowly turned away.



you want to jerk the ford guys around just mention a CPS (camshaft position sensor) and watch them squirm. they think its funny to have one in the glove box as a spare for when they fail. Me, i was embarrased to know i needed one after the first failed.

I have to be honest here. I really like the Fords looks and packaging. It's the motor/trans I can't take. I was considering an Excursion for my family until we figured out while using my Mom's '03 one time that they don't have the proper connecting points for a child safety seat. I love the Cummins, but need the room in the Fords. I guess I'll just have to live with what I have for now.

MBerry, you'll also find the X has a small cargo area with the thrid seat in place. smaller than a suburban in fact. we went from the the X to our Magnum and havent given it a second thought. I then hit the used market and picked up this truck which i wont be selling any time soon. not even for the mega cab.

An update on this truck... . It has now been in the shop 6 times since she got it! The last one was due to execcive overheating. Not sure what caused it. Fords suck!



Also, the integrated brake controller quit working. The dealer out here told her that they don't work under 15 mph!?!?!?!?!?! I was shocked. I find this hard to believe.
